    摘要: An illumination unit includes one or more light sources each including a solid-state light-emitting device having a light emission region configured of one or more light-emission spots, one or more traveling-direction angle conversion device each converting a traveling-direction-angle of light, and an integrator including a first fly-eye lens having cells which receive light from the traveling-direction angle conversion device and a second fly-eye lens having cells which receive light from the first fly-eye lens, the integrator uniformalizing illumination distribution in a predetermined illumination area. An optical system configured with the traveling-direction angle conversion device and the first and second fly-eye lenses has an optical magnification which allows each of light source images to have a size not exceeding a size of the cell in the second fly-eye lens, the light source images being formed on the second fly-eye lens by the respective cells in the first fly-eye lens.

    摘要: An illuminator and a display capable of achieving miniaturization are provided with use of a plurality of light sources emitting light with two or more kinds of wavelengths. In the light source unit 11, a red-color laser 11R, a green-color laser 11G, a blue-color laser 11B, a microlens section 116, and a microprism 117 are integrated on a base material. Each laser beam emitted from each of the laser light sources is transmitted through the microlens section 116, and then, comes into the microprism 117. In the microprism 117, optical path conversion is performed to shorten the distance between the optical paths of the incident light beams (to allow the optical axes of the incident light beams to be closer to each other).     摘要: Provided are an illumination unit and a display capable of achieving size reduction in a case where a plurality types of light sources emitting light with various different wavelengths are in use. An optical-path conversion member 12 is provided for performing optical-path conversion to light (red laser light Lr, green laser light Lg, and blue laser light Lg) coming from three types of light sources (a red laser 11R, a green laser 11G, and a blue laser 11B) in a light source unit 11 in such a manner that, compared with an angle formed by center rays in the light, an angle formed by center rays in outgoing light becomes much smaller. Such optical-path conversion is performed without using a large-scale optical system (optical members).
