摘要： The Specification relates to a tubular burner, as at 2 of Fig 1, suitable for the production of metallic and silicon oxides by halide vapourphase oxidation. Oxides of titanium, zirconium, iron, aluminium and silicon are specifically mentioned. The burner is inside a preheat furnace 20 and is connected to a cooled metal tube 1 outside it. Reactants are supplied through inlets 8 and 10 and a particulate refractory material is introduced through a nozzle 11 as described in Specification 1,049,282.
