摘要:
An apparatus, system, and method allow for cleaning and brushing irregular-shaped objects automatically. The apparatus includes: an outer portion or a container that can substantially enclose one or more irregular shaped objects, and a plurality of brushes movably coupled to an inner wall of the outer portion or the container. The apparatus can be used to wash irregular-shaped objects such as shoes, utensils, medical devices, etc. An irregular-shaped object can be placed in the apparatus, and the apparatus can be placed in a washing machine for automatic washing. Driven by a flow of water, air, or gas, the brushes can scrub the object. The apparatus can protect the object from potential damages, and/or keep washed-off sand, dirt, or other residues inside the apparatus.

A computed tomography (CT) or ultra sound imaging system and method are configured to construct images of an object. The imaging system includes: a radiation or ultrasound source including a collimating or a blocking device configured to generate both a narrow beam and a wide beam; a detector configured to detect radiation or ultrasound wave from the radiation or ultrasound wave from the radiation or ultrasound source; and at least one processing circuit configured to: determine a scatter-to-primary ratio (SPR) of the wide beam based on the narrow beam; determine a primary component of the wide beam based on the SPR to thereby separate the primary component from a scattered component of the wide beam; and construct an image of an object inside a patient using the primary component to thereby improve a contrast of the object.

Discovery of a new Bax isoform, BaxΔ2, in cancer cell lines and primary tumors is described. The BaxΔ2 isoform resulted from combination of Bax microsatellite mutation and alternative splicing Bax exon 2. It is also discovered that BaxΔ2 renders cancer cells sensitive to certain chemotherapeutic drugs that target caspase 8. Also provided are methods for treating colorectal cancer by administering to a colorectal cancer patient a chemotherapeutic agent that is capable of activating caspase 8, wherein the patient contains a cancer cell that expresses a BaxΔ2 protein (SEQ ID NO. 2).

A method for molecular haplotyping of a subject is disclosed. The method comprises: randomly selecting a set of chromosomes in each of a plurality of lyzed diploid cells of the subject, collecting the selected chromosomes from said plurality of cells into a plurality of sample tubes, wherein each sample tube contains chromosomes selected from one or more cells, genotyping genomic DNA in each sample tube, and determining haplotype of the alleles based on allele nucleotide sequence information and corresponding nucleotide signal intensities from genotyping data. Other methods for molecular haplotyping using single cell lysate or single cell microdissection are also disclosed.

The present invention discloses a LED luminance control circuit comprising one or several LEDs and a driving circuit, the driving circuit being connected in series with said one or several LEDs to provide energy to the one or several LEDs, wherein a control circuit is connected in parallel on both terminals of said one or several LEDs and controls on/off of the LEDs connected in parallel thereto. Connections between the several LEDs may be in parallel, in series, or combination thereof. The present invention also discloses an LED backlight source of a liquid crystal display using the above LED luminance control circuit. The present invention can implement the luminance control of various power LEDs quickly on basis of simplicity and low cost without influence on the luminance of other LEDs, by individual luminance control for every one or several LEDs, so as to solve some display technical problems when using LEDs as a display device.
