    摘要: A valving system for diverting fluids from one location to another. The valving system includes a valve housing and two or more dampers. The dampers are rotatably coupled to one or more shafts and are designed to move in a synchronized manner such that when opens and closes prior to the other damper or dampers doing so. The valving system of the present invention is particularly useful in the field of regenerative incineration where it is necessary to rapidly change the movement of a hazardous fluid from one regeneration bed to another. However, it may be used in any environment in which switching of the fluid flow over relatively short time periods is desired. The valving system diverts the fluid in a switchable manner that minimizes energy usage without diverting raw fluid directly to an output. A sealing system is located at the ends of the dampers.

    摘要: A louver damper device for the control of fluid flow within a conduit. The louver damper device includes one or more louvers, wherein each louver is a single-walled pivotable unit. The ends of louvers that are adjacent to one another are designed with coupling legs so that when the device is actuated into a blocking position within the conduit, the louver ends become sealingly engaged so as to form relatively small sealing chambers therebetween. Purge air may then be delivered to the sealing chambers to ensure a complete blocking of fluid movement within the conduit. The louvers adjacent to the conduit walls include end modifications similar to those provided to the intermediate louvers. Alternatively, flexible sealing hubs may be affixed to the conduit walls for engagement with modified ends of those perimeter louvers designed to sweep away any particulate residing on the flexible hubs without affect on the seal between those louvers and the interior conduit walls.

    摘要: A guillotine damper for a duct is provided with a thrust frame upstream of the path of a blade that is movable into and out of an operative position in sealing engagement with a seat downstream of the blade path when the flow path is not obstructed by the blade and in sealing engagement with and seating the blade against the seat when the blade is positioned to block the duct. Devices are provided with each utilizing resilient components to thrust the frame into its sealing positions and a hydraulic component to retract the frame when the blade is to be moved into or out of its duct blocking position. Each device exerts the force of either component to the frame through a series of mechanical elements spaced a substantial distance apart along the sides of the frames and connected thereto.

    摘要: A leaf spring seal to effect sealing contact between such members as a damper blade and a frame consists of a set of leaf springs having their inner portions held together by clamping components of which one is a bar and the other the inner portion of a ledge. Either the ledge or the bar may be a part of whichever member is to be provided with the seal with the other member then provided with a seat. The outer leaf spring portions of the leaf springs are all inclined in the same direction and to the same extent relative to their inner portions and decrease in width with the outer leaf spring portion of maximum width and in sealing contact with the seat when the seal and seat are in engagement with the leaf spring set then tensioned. The outer portion of the ledge is inclined in the same direction as the outer leaf spring portions and engages one of them to maintain the leaf spring set tensioned at least until the seal and the seat are engaged. Appropriate seal lengths consist of a series of shorter lengths with the leaf springs and clamping components thereof connected to the seal carrying member in a manner enabling thermal expansion forces to be accommodated.

    摘要: A double louver damper for use in a duct system conveying hot gases and particles in order to permit safe entry to be made therein when servicing is required has a frame to be incorporated in the system. The frame has two parallel seals surrounding the flow path, one spaced downstream relative thereto and to the other. The frame pivotally supports two sets of the same number of blades, one set for each seal and with the axes of the corresponding blades of the two series in the same plane. Each blade is in the form of an elongated, centrally pivoted diamond and is provided with coplanar lengthwise and end sealing portions of the same radial extent. When the damper is closed, the long axes of the blades are substantially in the same plane with the proximate lengthwise sealing portions overlapping and the remaining lengthwise and end sealing portions engaging the appropriate one of the seals. When the damper is open, each pair of corresponding blades partially overlap to establish a streamlined parallelogram of the thickness of one blade but half again as long with its long sides parallel to the flow path.

    摘要: A device, such as a damper or valve, for use in closing a conduit against the flow of liquid has a chamber surrounding and opening into the conduit. A blade at one side of the conduit is movable through the chamber from a first position within a bonnet into a conduit-blocking position. Means carried by the chamber side walls surround the conduit and are between the conduit and the blade when in its first position and are operable then to coact to seal the chamber against leakage into it and to seal the blade when in its second position. At least one seal is of a type brought by fluid under pressure from a position out of the path of the blade into its sealing positions and is carried by the side wall enabling the seal to engage the blade face exposed to the fluid flow. Means are provided to deliver fluid pressure to the pressure operated seal when the blade is in either position and to relieve the pressure therein when the blade is to be moved. Means are also provided to maintain a fluid under pressure in the chamber greater than the fluid pressure in the conduit at least whenever the blade is to move from one position to another and to purge the sealing means and prevent leakage from the conduit along the path of the blade. The other of the sealing means may also be a fluid pressure operated seal and similarly controlled or it may be a resilient compressible seal or seals.
