    摘要: A sealing system for a pump includes a housing having an internal chamber adapted to receive a portion of a plunger. A primary seal is translatable within the chamber in sealing relation with the housing. The primary seal includes first and second elastomeric members adapted to sealingly engage the plunger. The first and second elastomeric members are spaced apart from one another a distance greater than or equal to a maximum stroke of the plunger. A secondary seal is spaced apart from the primary seal and adapted to sealingly engage the plunger. A chamber contains a barrier fluid in contact with the primary seal and the secondary seal. A pressurizing device maintains a pressure of barrier fluid at a magnitude greater than a peak pressure of a fluid pumped by the plunger such that the pumped fluid is restricted from entering the barrier fluid chamber.

    摘要: A craft interface device for accessing, maintaining and provisioning a telecommunications network includes a graphical user interface, a domain modeling framework, and a communications framework which includes a parser. The graphical user interface is operatively connected to a monitor for displaying thereon structural components of the telecommunications network and for indicating, on the monitor, operating relationships among the structural components. The domain modeling framework is operatively connected to the graphical user interface for supplying thereto descriptions of the objects to be displayed. The communications framework is operatively connected to the domain modeling framework for generating and transmitting, in response to user commands detected by the graphical user interface, data requests over a data link of the network and for reading data lines arriving from the network. The parser includes an object-oriented state machine operatively connected to the communications framework for parsing information from an incoming sequence of data lines or events. The parser, via the domain model, is operatively connected to the graphical user interface for providing information thereto for display. The state machine includes a current state object taken from a group of diffierent possible state objects each transformable into at least one of the other state objects in response to an incoming message of a given type.

    摘要: The present invention demonstrates that M-CSF responsiveness and the M-CSFR expression can be used to discriminate monocytic and granulocytic cells within a population of cells which strongly expresses the CD34 antigen (CD34.sup.hi). Briefly, the method comprises isolating phenotypically and functionally defined CD34.sup.+ subsets, and staining with anti-M-CSFR monoclonal antibodies to measure expression on these primitive progenitors and cells committed to the granulocytic and monocytic lineages, based upon expression of M-CSFR. CD34.sup.hi M-CSFR.sup.hi cells are highly clonogenic and approximately 70% of the colonies are CFU-M (monocytic), whereas less than 20% were CFU-G (granulocytic). In contrast, CD34.sup.hi cells that were positive for the granulo-monocytic marker CD64 and negative for the M-CSFR contained high frequencies of 91% pure CFU-Gs. After 60 h in culture, CD34.sup.hi M-CSFR.sup.hi cells developed into distinct populations of M-CSFR.sup.hi and M-CSFR.sup.lo cells. These two populations gave rise almost exclusively to monocytes and granulocytes, respectively. This result demonstrates that M-CSF target specificity among human hematopoietic progenitor cells is determined by lineage-specific regulation of the M-CSFR and demonstrate that M-CSFR is a useful marker to discriminate CFU-Ms from CFU-Gs.

    摘要: An arrangement for applying a back pressure to a shaft seal of a mechanism such as a pump comprises a piston slidable in a cylinder one end of which communicates with the fluid being pumped and the other end of which contains oil communicating with a sealed chamber on that side of the seal remote from the fluid. Hitherto, the piston has created a preponderance of the back pressure over the pressure of the fluid by virtue of its weight. This preponderance has been very small, and the rolling diaphragm seal needed on the piston has been easily ruptured if the oil has been lost, thereby allowing possibly hazardous fluids to escape. A greater preponderance of the back pressure, allowing the use of a stronger type of piston seal, is provided by urging the piston towards the other end of the cylinder by a spring as well as by the pressure of the fluid. A magnet on the piston remotely actuates a series of flaps hinged along the exterior of the cylinder to give a visual indication of the position of the piston and also effects automatic replenishing of the oil if necessary or operates a remote warning signal when replenishing is needed.

    摘要: A sealing system for a pump having a plunger includes a housing having an internal chamber adapted to receive a portion of the plunger. Primary and secondary seals are located within the internal chamber and adapted to sealingly engage the plunger. The primary seal communicates with the fluid being pumped. A barrier fluid chamber contains a barrier fluid in contact with the primary seal and the secondary seal. A pressure referencing device has an inlet port in communication with the pumped fluid and an outlet port providing fluid at a pressure magnitude equal to a peak pressure of the pumped fluid. A pressurizing device is in communication with the fluid at the peak pressure and the barrier fluid to maintain the barrier fluid pressure at a magnitude greater than the peak pressure of the pumped fluid such that the pumped fluid is restricted from leaking past the primary seal.
