摘要: Provided are compounds, methods and pharmaceutical compositions for treating a host, especially a human, infected with a togavirus, herpes virus and/or coronavirus, and in particular SARS-CoV, cytomegalovirus or varicella-zoster virus. The method in one embodiment comprises administering to that host an effective amount of an anti-togavirus, anti-herpes virus and/or anti-coronavirus phospholipid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or prodrug thereof. The phospholipid compound is, e.g., a 3-alkylamido-2-alkoxypropylphosphocholine compound or salt thereof. The compound may be administered alone or in combination and/or alternation with one or more other anti-viral agents.

摘要: The invention includes compositions and methods useful for treatment of a virus infection in a mammal by double-targeting the virus (i.e. targeting the virus at more than one stage of the virus life cycle) and thereby inhibiting virus replication. The compositions of the invention include compounds which comprise a phosphocholine moiety covalently conjugated with one or more antiviral agents (e.g. nucleoside analogue, protease inhibitor, etc.) to a lipid backbone. The invention also includes pharmaceutical compositions and kits for use in treatment of a virus infection in mammals. The methods of the invention comprise administering a compound of the invention, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a pharmaceutical composition of the invention, in an amount effective to treat the infection, to a mammal infected with a virus. Additionally, the invention includes compositions and methods useful for combating a cancer in a mammal and for facilitating delivery of a therapeutic agent to a mammalian cell. The compositions of the invention include compounds which comprise an alkyl lipid or phospholipid moiety covalently conjugated with an anticancer agent (e.g. a nucleoside analogue). The invention also includes pharmaceutical compositions and kits for combating a cancer and for facilitating delivery of a therapeutic agent to a mammalian cell. The methods of the invention comprise administering a compound of the invention, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a pharmaceutical composition of the invention, in an amount effective to combat a cancer or to facilitate delivery of a therapeutic agent to a mammalian cell.

摘要: Apparatus and methods for airflow testing, especially for air testing of gas turbine components on an airflow test bench. Various embodiments of the present invention include the use of a flow-stabilizing member downstream of the component being tested. Since the flow through or over the component is subsonic, a flow-stabilizing member placed down stream of the component can have an effect on the flow conditions in or around the component being tested. In one embodiment, the flow-stabilizing member provides more consistent results during the testing of the component.

摘要: The invention includes an ionizing radiation detector which includes a chamber within a housing. A receiving member within the chamber has a plurality of spaced holders for receiving samples. The samples are maintained in an array of substantially parallel samples with the samples functioning as electrodes within the chamber. The invention includes a method of counting emissions from samples. An odd number of electrodes are introduced into a detector chamber. Each of the electrodes includes at least one sample to be analyzed. The electrodes are organized into an array of substantially parallel electrodes, each electrode being in electrical communication with a contact surface. The electrode array includes cathodes and anodes where the number of cathodes differs from the number of anodes by one. A voltage is applied across the electrodes and particle emission is detected from the samples based upon ionization of counting gas within the chamber.
