Abstract: A vehicular imaging system includes a camera with an imaging sensor. A first spectral filter is disposed at each pixel of a first set of photosensing pixels, a second spectral filter is disposed at each pixel of a second set of photosensing pixels, and each pixel of a third set of photosensing pixels senses at least near infrared radiation. Image data provided to the image processor includes output of the first set of photosensing pixels, output of the second set of photosensing pixels and output of the third set of photosensing pixels. The outputs of the photosensing pixels of the first and second sets of photosensing pixels are processed for a color camera function of the vehicle. The output of the photosensing pixels of the third set of photosensing pixels is processed for a night vision function of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular adaptive driving beam headlighting system includes a camera disposed at and viewing forwardly through a windshield of a vehicle. A control includes an image processor that processes image data captured by the camera at night to detect headlights present in a field of view of the camera of an oncoming vehicle that is approaching the equipped vehicle along a traffic lane to the left of a traffic lane of a road that the equipped vehicle is travelling along. A left-side headlamp is disposed at a left-side front portion of the equipped vehicle and a right-side headlamp is disposed at a right-side front portion of the equipped vehicle. Responsive to detection of headlights of an oncoming vehicle, the left-side headlamp beam of light is adjusted to reduce glaring a driver of the oncoming vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular imaging system includes an imaging device having a single imaging sensor capturing image data within a field of view. A control within the vehicle includes an image processor and receives image data captured by the single imaging sensor and receives vehicle data via a communication bus of the vehicle. Responsive at least in part to image processing of captured image data, the control detects converging road features along the road the vehicle is travelling and determines a point of intersection where the converging road features would converge. Responsive at least in part to image processing of captured image data, the control automatically corrects for misalignment of the imaging device mounted at the vehicle.

Abstract: An imaging system suitable for use in a vehicle includes an imaging sensor having a two-dimensional array of photosensing pixels that includes at least one sub-array having a first photosensing pixel, a second photosensing pixel, a third photosensing pixel and a fourth photosensing pixel. Spectral filtering is disposed at the photosensing pixels whereby the first photosensing pixel primarily senses red visible light, the second photosensing primarily senses blue visible light, the third photosensing primarily senses green visible light and the fourth photosensing primarily senses infrared radiation. The imaging sensor is disposed at a vehicle and has a field of view external of the vehicle. An image processor is operable for processing image data captured by the imaging sensor. The image data includes outputs of the first, second, third and fourth photosensing pixels. The processing of image data by the image processor may include de-mosaicing that reduces infrared color wash-out.

Abstract: A driver assistance system for a vehicle includes a camera and a control. The camera is disposed at the vehicle and views forward of the vehicle and is operable to capture image data. The control includes an image processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. The control, responsive at least in part to image data processing by the image processor, is operable to determine when the equipped vehicle is at least one of (i) approaching a construction zone, (ii) entering a construction zone and (iii) driving along a construction zone. The image data processing by the image processor may include at least one of (a) traffic sign recognition, (b) character recognition, (c) object detection, (d) object recognition, (e) spectral discrimination, (f) spatial recognition and (g) lane marker detection.

Abstract: A driver assistance system for a vehicle includes an imaging device disposed at an exterior portion of a vehicle. With the imaging device disposed at the exterior portion of the vehicle, the imaging device has a field of view at least one of rearward of the vehicle and sideward of the vehicle. A control utilizes edge detection in processing image data captured by the imaging device. Responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data by the control, the control determines that an object is present in the field of view of the imaging device. The control is operable to determine that the imaging device is misaligned. The control, responsive to a determination of misalignment of the imaging array sensor, is operable to at least partially compensate for the determined misalignment of the imaging device.

Abstract: A vehicular imaging system comprises a single imaging sensor having a plurality of photosensor elements. The imaging sensor captures image data of a scene exterior of the vehicle within its field of view. Image data captured by the imaging sensor is provided to a control. The control also receives via a communication bus at least one of vehicle pitch information, vehicle yaw information and vehicle steering information.
