A multilayer composite film that includes an outer ETFE layer adhered to a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer. These layers are adhered together by a fluoropolymer adhesive. The multilayer composite film also include an infra-red (IR) radiation rejection layer that reflects or absorbs more than 50% of incident IR radiation. A second ETFE layer can be adhered to an inner surface of the structural polymer layer. The composite films are useful in structural applications and can withstand environmental exposure.

Composite film structures including a polyfluorourethane (PFU) layer are described. The PFU layer is in contact with a polymer film to form a thermoformable composite film. The composite films exhibit a low Tg and resulting shapeability allowing them to be applied to non-planar irregular surfaces. The composite achieves thermoformability in the absence of deep dip dyeing.

The present invention provides a high performance backsheet (alternatively referred to backing sheet) for photovoltaic applications and methods for manufacture of the same. The high performance backsheet includes a compounded thermoplastic polyolefin or compounded ethylene vinyl acetate (“EVA”). The compounded thermoplastic polyolefin or EVA may be used by itself as one layer, or incorporated into a layer, or as a layer in multilayer laminate. The compounded thermoplastic polyolefin or EVA is useful in eliminating the necessity of using polyester in the backing sheet.
