    摘要: A system and method for determining EGR flow in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine include determining specific heat of the exhaust gas based on current engine operating conditions and determining EGR flow rate based on the determined specific heat and a signal provided by a sensor. In one embodiment, a species tracking model is used to determine the amount of various species within the exhaust gas which may include oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and water, for example, to determine the current specific heat, which is compared to a reference specific heat for the sensor, the difference being used to adjust the sensor value and determine the EGR mass flow rate. The species tracking model uses a simplified combustion model to estimate the amount of each specie in the exhaust gas based on various engine operating parameters, such as fuel, air/fuel ratio, and turbo boost, for example.

    摘要: A method for determining a coefficient gain to a signal command to actuate an air intake throttle plate to ensure that the throttle plate responds in a desired manner within a desired responsiveness with relative conformity over the life of the air intake manifold with out losses due to variability in spring/motor/friction responsiveness in the throttle plate actuator. The coefficient gain is multiplied to successive throttle plate command signals to ensure the throttle plate responds as desired. The coefficient gain is re-determined periodically when it is determined that the throttle plate responsiveness does not meet desired throttle plate responsiveness.

    摘要: A method for diagnosing an air intake throttle with a spring activated throttle actuator, on an electronic controlled internal combustion engine system including an electronic control unit (ECU) with memory, a battery electrically connected to said engine and an ignition switch for connecting said battery to said engine and supplying current, comprising engaging the ignition switch to close a circuit between said battery and said engine; applying a first predetermined voltage to an air intake throttle plate actuator and determining a first period of throttle response time elapsed from a full open throttle position to a full close throttle position for a first throttle velocity; discontinuing application of said first predetermined voltage to said air intake throttle actuator and determining a second period of throttle response time elapsed from a full close throttle position to a full open throttle position for a second throttle velocity; applying a second voltage to said air intake throttle plate actuator and determining a third period of throttle response time elapsed from a full open throttle position to a full close throttle position for a third throttle velocity; and determining a fourth period of throttle response time elapsed from a full close throttle position to a full open throttle position with no voltage applied to the throttle plate actuator for a fourth throttle velocity.
