This invention relates to aliphatic polyesters having a controlled thermal decomposition, hydrolizability, and biodegradability, in which OH terminals and COOH terminals are decreased through a ring-opening polymerization of a lactone and lactide by a mono alcohol or a metal alkoxide, or by decreasing both terminals through combining polymer terminals with diisocyanate. From a composition containing the polyesters, this invention provides a controlled release composition for agriculture. From a resin primarily containing fatty acid cellulose ester derivatives, this invention provides a base film for a marking film without volatilization and plasticizer migration problems; a picture image formable heat-sensitive transfer recording material with excellent strippability, coloring concentration, and brightness; a conductive coating composition with excellent storage stability, adhesion, and conductivity; a single-liquid type coating for a moisture-curable graft copolymer, and a non-toxic and non-irritating coating composition with excellent dryability. The copolymers of this invention also have excellent heat and impact resistance.

A polyester-series resin composition comprises (A) a polyester block copolymer, (B) a polyepoxy compound and (C) a polycarbodiimide compound. The copolymer (A) is obtainable by a reaction of (a1) a crystalline aromatic polyester and (a2) a lactone, and if necessary (a3) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a polycarboxylic acid or an ester-formable derivative thereof and a polyol or an ester-formable derivative thereof in the presence of an acidic phosphate ester and a tin compound. Such a resin composition is particularly excellent in recycling efficiency (or thermal cycling resistance) and is useful for blow molding.

The present invention relates to a polyester block copolymer composition which is obtained by reacting 0.5 to 5.0 parts by weight of an epoxy compound (C) having two or more functionalities with 100 parts by weight of a polyester block copolymer (P) having an acid value of 0 to 5 mgKOH/g obtained by reacting a crystalline aromatic polyester (A) having a hydroxyl group at a molecular terminal with a lactone (B) and optionally with a polyfunctional compound (D) having three or more groups selected among carboxyl, hydroxyl, and/or ester groups thereof. The composition has such excellent moldability that it is applicable to molding techniques including blow molding without arousing any trouble. It is satisfactory in heat resistance, water resistance, impact resistance, or flame retardancy, and has rubber-like elasticity.

Disclosed is a liquid thermosetting epoxy resin composition including a base resin, a curing agent (D), and curing accelerator (E) or including a base resin and a curing catalyst (D′), each base resin including an alicyclic epoxy compound (A) having at least one alicyclic skeleton and two or more epoxy groups per molecule; a polyester polyol and/or a polycarbonate polyol (B), each polyol having two or more terminal hydroxyl groups; and a phosphorous ester (C). The liquid thermosetting epoxy resin composition exhibits excellent viscosity stability and can give a cured article which is homogeneous even when having a large thickness, does not crack under heat cycle conditions, and is highly thermally stable and satisfactorily optically transparent.
