摘要： A switch of the present invention is featured as one employing: a contact to make and break an electrical circuit, and an electromagnet, both of which are installed in a case, and a handle to make and break the contact by operation from outside of the case, wherein a permanent magnet is installed with one of its poles facing the electromagnet inside of the handle, and wherein the direction of the current passing through the electromagnet is changed so that the permanent magnets are attracted to or released from the electromagnet, and thereby the contact is opened or closed.

摘要： An image forming apparatus, is provided with a fixing device including a heat source to receive power supply and to generate heat, and a temperature sensor to detect a temperature of the heat source; a control section to conduct a heat source temperature control and an abnormal temperature detecting control in response to a detection result of the temperature sensor; and an electric power cutout section to cut out the power supply to the heat source on a basis of the abnormal temperature detecting control by the control section. The control section conducts the heat source temperature control for the fixing device and/or the abnormal temperature detecting control for the electric power cutout section with at least two CPUs.

摘要： In an electric power supply for supplying electric power, after a power factor has been improved, to an equipment having a power saving mode which is transferred to the power saving mode when the equipment is not operated for a predetermined period of time, the electric power supply includes: a power factor improvement section for improving the power factor by a switching operation; and a switch provided between a power source and the power factor improvement section for switching the electric power to either the power factor improvement section or the equipment. When the equipment is transferred to the power saving mode, the electric power is supplied by the switch to the equipment without passing through the power factor improvement section.

摘要： There is described an image forming apparatus, in which the influence of the overall controlling section startup time is reduced, thereby cutting down the time from turning on of power to enabling of image formation. The image forming apparatus includes: a main power switch to turn ON/OFF an AC power source to be supplied into the image forming apparatus; a DC power current generating section to convert AC power current, fed from the AC power source, to DC power current; an overall-controlling section to control overall operations of the image forming apparatus; an engine-controlling section to conduct a predetermined controlling operation among from controlling operations to be conducted in the image forming apparatus; a first power-controlling section, included in the overall-controlling section and/or controlled by the overall-controlling section; and a second power-controlling section, having a starting time shorter than that of the first power-controlling section.

摘要： In order to shorten a time for preliminary original reading which is performed prior to reading of an original image, an image reading apparatus of the present invention scans an original mounted on a platen glass by a scan optical system that moves to the original and reads a scanned image of the original by using a CCD sensor, the apparatus having a function to perform a preliminary original read operation for automatically deciding a density of the original before the reading operation of the original image, wherein the preliminary original reading is performed while the scan optical system in an idling state is moving from a read standby position to an image read operation start position; a white background level correction operation of the CDD sensor is performed after collection of original density data by the preliminary original read operation; and a result of the correction is reflected on the original density data obtained by the preliminary original reading to control the decision of the original density.
