A digital video cassette recorder reproduces signals which have been compressed to digital data and recorded in predetermined M tracks (M≧1) with helical scan in the unit of page consisting of N frames (N≧1). Further, position data have been added to the digital data on recording. On reproduction, the position data are detected to determine which reproduction position is reproduced, and a control signal to designate a field to be output is generated by observing the reproduction position during a frame period. A first storage device stores decoded data in the unit of N frames, while a second storage device delays the data a time of one field. By observing the reproduction situation with the position data, a memory controller controls reading from the first storage device according to the control signal, while a switch selects data to be output between data from the first storage device and data from the second storage device according to the control signal.

The method includes automated generation and evaluation of a digitally-stained image (emulating the effect produced on the sample by a chosen specific dye) based at least on one of data representing an image of the HE-stained sample and empirical testing data representing samples stained with specific dyes. The system is adapted to acquire a multispectral image of the sample, to implement the digital staining of the sample's image, and to evaluate automatically the digitally-stained image contemporaneously with multispectral image acquisition. The system generates an output indicative of need to request a preparation of an actual specimen stained with chosen specific dye for further evaluation, reducing the number of samples prepared in anticipation of such request and reducing time lapsed prior to the evaluation by a histopathologist.

The settlement management device creates, based on settlement request information from the store device, settlement information for making settlement by the data storage device, subjects the settlement information to an encryption processing by using a common key shared by the settlement management device and the data storage device, and transmits the settlement information subjected to the encryption processing to the client device, and the client device outputs the settlement information received from the settlement management device to the data storage device.
