The laminate for image formation comprises, an image transfer sheet comprising, in order, a support sheet, a light-heat conversion layer containing a light-heat conversion material which absorbs a laser light and instantly produces a heat, a heat sensitive releasing layer containing a material which produces a gas upon receiving the heat produced in the light-heat conversion layer, and an image formation layer which comprises a thermoplastic resin and a pigment, and an image receiving sheet via a thermally fusible material in the form of a large number of dots or in the form of lines to divide an interface between the image formation layer and the image receiving sheet into different areas. The material of the heat sensitive releasing layer can be incorporated into the light-heat conversion layer.

The present invention provides a cholesteric liquid crystal color filter including partition walls that are formed at pixel boundaries, produced by: forming a liquid crystal layer comprising a cholesteric liquid crystal composition including at least a liquid crystal compound, a photoreactive chiral agent and a polymerization initiator; and irradiating the liquid crystal layer with UV light having wavelengths to which the polymerization initiator is photosensitive through a photomask to form the partition walls at areas corresponding to the pixel boundaries while the liquid crystal layer is in an isotropic liquid state or in a cholesteric state not exhibiting selective reflection of light in the visible range. The invention also provides a process for producing a cholesteric liquid crystal color filter including openings that are formed at positions corresponding to at least contact holes and/or electrode lead-out portions.

A liquid droplet containing thermosetting or ultraviolet curing adhesive material is jetted out to either of a transfer member (5) or an image receiving member (11) so as to correspond to a shape of an image so that a latent image is formed. The transfer member (5) and the image receiving member (11) are brought into close contact with each other so that the latent image is interposed between the transfer member (5) and the image receiving member (11). Then, heat or ultraviolet rays are applied for curing the adhesive material so that a transfer material formed on the transfer member (5) is fixed to the image receiving member (11) through the cured adhesive material. Then, the transfer member (5) and the image receiving member (11) are separated from each other so that only the fixed transfer material is transferred to the image receiving member (11). As a result, a required image is formed.

An image forming method which widens the range of materials usable for an image forming method that employs an ink-jet technique and yields an image with high image quality and high homogeneity. An image pattern forming material containing an adhesive material is discharged onto a transfer layer surface of an image transfer material or onto an image receiving layer surface of an image receiving material, and the image pattern forming material is formed in an image pattern. The transfer layer surface of the image transfer material is closely contacted with the image receiving layer surface of the image receiving material. The image transfer material is peeled off from the image receiving material and portions of the transfer layer are stripped off in an image pattern from the image transfer material by the image pattern forming material. Thus, the image is formed on the image receiving material.
