摘要: Light emitting systems are disclosed. The light emitting system emits an output light that has a first color. The light emitting system includes a first electroluminescent device that emits light at a first wavelength in response to a first signal. The first wavelength is substantially independent of the first signal. The intensity of the emitted first wavelength light is substantially proportional to the first signal. The light emitting system further includes a first luminescent element that includes a second electroluminescent device and a first light converting layer. The second electroluminescent device emits light at a second wavelength in response to a second signal. The first light converting layer includes a semiconductor potential well and converts at least a portion of light at the second wavelength to light at a third wavelength that is longer than the second wavelength. The light emitting system combines light at the first wavelength with light at the third wavelength to form the output light at the first color. When one of the first and second signals changes from about 50% of a maximum rating of the signal to about 100% of the maximum rating, but the ratio of the first signal to the second signal remains substantially unchanged, the first color of the output light remains substantially unchanged.

摘要: A polarization mode separator separates the optical signal into a first polarized signal and a second differently polarized signal traveling along respective first and second paths. A first variable delay generator located along the first path is adapted to selectively provide a first propagation delay to the first polarized signal. The first variable delay generator includes at least two rotating micro-mirrors and one or more fixed mirrors constructed on a surface of a substrate. A controller is coupled to the first variable delay generator. The controller is adapted to monitor the polarization mode dispersion in the optical signal and to position the rotating micro-mirrors to direct the first polarized signal along one of the plurality of optical paths. A beam combiner combines the first and second signals to form an optical output signal substantially compensated for polarization mode dispersion.

摘要: A touch-sensitive device with stylus includes a touch panel, a stylus drive unit, a touch panel sense unit, and a measurement unit. A touch by a stylus proximate to a touch panel electrode changes a capacitive coupling between the touch panel electrode and a stylus electrode. The amplitude of the response signal is responsive to the capacitive coupling between the touch panel electrode and the stylus electrode, and is measured to provide an indication of the position of the stylus electrode relative to the touch panel.

摘要: A method for displaying an indication of data collected via a wireless network sensor involves processing the collected data to generate reports. The wireless network sensor includes a plurality of sensors for detecting events occurring proximate the sensors, a processor for receiving and processing data from the sensors, and a wireless transmitter for wirelessly transmitting data. The method displays an indication of parsed events, episodes, vectors, links, and paths based upon the received data. Another method displays a representation of a location of each sensor in the wireless network sensors in a monitored environment and information related to data collected via the sensors.

摘要: A micro-mechanical device including a gimbaled micro-mirror position able by a one or more thermal actuators. The thermal actuators are not attached to the micro-mirror. Rather, the micro-mirror is retained to the substrate by one or more gimbals. The micrometer sized thermal actuators are capable of repeatable and rapid moving the micro-mirror out-of-plane to accurately and repeatably steer a beam of light.

摘要: A micrometer sized multi-directional thermal actuator capable of repeatable and rapid displacement in a substantially horizontal direction, a substantially vertical direction, and/or a combination thereof. The multi-directional thermal actuator constructed on a surface of a substrate includes three or more beams each cantilevered from one or more anchors at a first end to extend generally parallel to the surface of the substrate. A member mechanically and electrically couples the distal ends of the beams. Application of current to a circuit comprising combinations of any two or more of the beams displaces the member in one of three or more non-parallel radial directions, respectively.

摘要: A Doppler blood flow system and method in which an ultrasonic wave is reflected off of red blood cells in blood flowing in tubing. The reflected ultrasonic wave is digitally processed in the frequency domain. The flow rate of the blood is directly related to the average frequency of the Doppler signal. The typical Doppler signal is not a single frequency representing a single flow rate but is really an entire range of frequencies in which certain frequencies predominate which are indicated by increased amplitude of the signal when plotted in the frequency domain. The typical Doppler signal may actually have two "humps", one at a higher frequency which represents the actual information bearing content of the signal related to flow rate and one at a lower frequency which is caused by vibrations in the blood tubing system itself and could be caused by motor noise from the blood pump. Since the flow rate is related to average frequency of the information bearing portion of the typical Doppler signal, the low frequency "hump" must be taken out of the Doppler signal in order to obtain an accurate flow rate.
