Abstract:
Engineered orange-red fluorescent proteins with enhanced fluorescent properties, obtained by mutagenesis of mNeptune2, are disclosed. In particular, the invention relates to engineered orange-red fluorescent proteins excitable with cyan light having increased emission intensity and their use in bioluminescent resonance energy transfer systems and fluorescence and bioluminescence imaging.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and computer apparatuses for computing three dimensional (3D) surfaces are described herein. An embodiment includes constructing a slanted voxel grid oriented in a direction between at least two camera locations, projecting images from respective camera locations onto the constructed voxel grid, calculating, for one or more voxels in the voxel grid, a magnitude of difference between pixels corresponding to respective projected images to provide a difference value for each of the one or more voxels, and computing a three dimensional surface passing through voxel locations corresponding to one or more calculated difference values of the one or more voxels. In an embodiment, the three dimensional surface is computed as a surface passing through voxel locations corresponding to calculated difference values having lower magnitudes with respect to other calculated difference values.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for identifying different types of energy sources used to charge a battery by receiving energy from at least one of the different types of energy sources at input terminals, identifying the type of energy source, and selecting a mode for charging the battery based on the type of energy source identified. A method and apparatus for protecting against certain energy sources used to charge a battery is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A system for measuring dimensions and/or other internal properties of a shoe, garment or other object of interest is described. The system includes a fixture having a measurement tip. When the tip is placed inside of the object of interest, a processor collects positional data from the fixture to develop a three-dimensional model of the interior of the object. If the measurement tip includes one or more pressure sensors, the processor may collect pressure data and use the pressure data to include stretch properties in the three-dimensional model.
Abstract:
An electric power generation system is disclosed. The electric power generation system includes: a string configured to be pulled; a bobbin configured to rotate when the string is unwound from the bobbin as the string is pulled; an electric power generator having a rotor wherein the rotor is mechanically coupled to the bobbin; and a case with a sealed chamber and a chamber that can be opened. The sealed chamber protects the electric power generator from environmental contamination and the chamber that can be opened allows the string to be accessed.
Abstract:
A fastening structure used for fastening a heat sink to a heat generating device formed on a board is disclosed. The heat sink has a plurality of vertically extending fins spaced by each other by a first gap, and the fastening structure has a pair of blocking members applied to two outermost fins of the heat sink. Each of the blocking members has a horizontal plate, a pair of arms extending from two opposing sides of the horizontal plate, a vertical plate extending perpendicularly from one end of the horizontal plate, a pair of wings extending from two opposing sides of the vertical plates, and a pair of resilient flaps extending from top edges of the wings. Each of the arms is terminated with a hook, and each of the block members further has a pair of loops formed on the board, such that by engaging the hooks with the loops, the fastening structure secures the heat sink to the heat generating device on the board.
Abstract:
A switch circuit for switching two clock signals includes a clock generator, a flip-flop and a multiplexer. The clock generator is to generate a reference signal whose cycle is the lowest common multiple of the cycles of the two clock signals. The flip-flop is to generate a selecting signal by taking a control signal from system as an input signal and taking the reference signal as a timing trigger signal. The multiplexer can output a selected clock signal according to the selecting signal in which the selected clock signal and the switched clock signal are synchronous during their entire cycles.
Abstract:
A refilling system for reducing messiness during use includes a container and a refilling container. The container includes a hollow bottle, a pouring spout, and a cap which covers the pouring spout. The pouring spout has an interior surface. The refilling container includes a hollow body a refilling spout and contains a composition therein. The refilling spout has an exterior surface. In the refilling system, the interior surface and the exterior surface are coordinated such that the exterior surface may fit within the interior surface during use.
Abstract:
A treadmill includes a handle device disposed on a seat, a tread base rotatable between a downward working position and an upward folding position. Two arms and two levers and two bars are pivotally secured between the tread base and the seat, for allowing the tread base to be rotated relative to the seat. A tube may be secured to the arms, a bolt is threaded with the tube, and a motor may be coupled to the bolt for rotating the bolt to move the tube away from and toward the bolt, and thus to rotate the tread base between the downward working position and the upward folding positions.
Abstract:
An oval track exercising climber including a pair of pedals pivotably supported between a pair of oscillating bars and a pair of guide bars, and a pair of links pivotably coupled between the oscillating bars and the guide bars, the connecting points between the guide bars and the links being respectively pivoted to a pair of cranks, the pedals being forced to move along an oval track and pedaled.
