摘要: Calcium reacting photoproteins are a class of self-illuminating proteins that emit light upon contact with calcium. Fluorescent Proteins are small proteins that change the color of light when excited. Fluorescent Proteins and Calcium Activated Photoproteins can be used to enhance, dazzle, amaze, startle, and otherwise entertain an audience by their direct application on to the audience, surroundings, the actors, or sprayed on settings as in the newer 4D movies. The disclosure comprises novel Coelenterazine compounds and methods of use, including a simple delivery device for the photoprotein to create unique and novel cinematic, theatrical, stage, movie and musical concert optical effects by their luminous reaction upon contact with surfaces that contain calcium. Calcium is ubiquitous in and on most surfaces and in the environment; it is this unique property of calcium that makes this a novel use of the photoproteins for entertainment.

摘要: A method and system to prevent sore throat infections in humans includes the administration of an active ingredient to a site on the mucus membranes of the throat of a human that inhibits adherence and promotes desorption of S. pyogenes to soft tissue surfaces, such as the pharyngeal and oral mucosa of a human. A mucoadhesive strip having a surface topography that resists bioadhesion of undesired bacteria that are typically present in a human's mouth is preferably employed and that has one or more encapsulated agents selected from the group consisting of an antibiotic; lactic acid bacteria; S. pyogenes modified by a CRISPR-Cas system to reduce one or more virulence factors; and a breath mint solution.

摘要: A polynucleotide encoding a biosensor polypeptide comprising a modified circularly-permuted thermostable luciferase and a linker linking the C-terminal portion of the thermostable luciferase to the N-terminal portion of the thermostable luciferase. The modified circularly-permuted thermostable luciferase is modified relative to a parental circularly-permuted thermostable luciferase. The linker contains a sensor region capable of interacting with a target molecule in a cell. The modified circularly-permuted thermostable luciferase has an enhanced response after interaction of the biosensor with the target molecule relative to the parental circularly-permuted thermostable luciferase in the presence of the target molecule. Alternatively, the modified circularly-permuted thermostable luciferase has an enhanced response after interaction of the biosensor with the target molecule relative to the modified circularly-permuted thermostable luciferase in the absence of the target molecule.

摘要: As a calcium indicator protein having an excellent fluorescent characteristic and calcium reactivity, there is provided DNA in which one of a nucleotide sequence derivative of a calmodulin-binding sequence (ckkap sequence) of calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase kinase and a nucleotide sequence encoding a calcium-binding sequence (CaM sequence) of calmodulin is linked to a 5′ end of a nucleotide sequence encoding a fluorescent protein, and the other nucleotide sequence is linked to a 3′ end of the nucleotide sequence encoding the fluorescent protein. The calcium indicator protein encoded by this DNA, which based on the derivative of the ckkap sequence as a binding domain for the calcium-bound CaM sequence, exhibits a fluorescent characteristic and calcium reactivity superior to those of conventional calcium indicator proteins.
