摘要: There is disclosed an endotracheal tube which has a minimal cross-sectional profile for easy viewing of anatomical features during intubation. After the tube is placed into the trachea, the tube is adapted to increase the diameter. In this manner the tube diameter may be expanded to allow for decreased Work of Breathing (WOB) for patient, while not having so large a diameter as to cause tracheal discomfort.

摘要: A system and method for the reduction or inhibition of laser-induced plumes in dermatological and surgical treatments includes a substantially optically clear physical barrier, that does not degrade due to laser exposure, applied to a treatment area. The dermatological treatment is carried out directly through the barrier. In one embodiment, a barrier may be formed by applying to a treatment area a spray or liquid that polymerizes or cures in situ. In another embodiment, the barrier is pre-formed and placed over the treatment area. The barrier acts to reduce or inhibit the dissipation of the plume that would otherwise result from the laser treatment.

In one exemplary embodiment for skin treatment including tattoo removal, perfluorodecalin is used to inhibit or resolve whitening, for example to speed a laser therapy session.

摘要: An acne treatment system, device and method includes optical visualization means for identifying areas of skin colonized by the P. acnes bacteria, and further comprises methods, techniques and apparatus for the reduction or elimination of such colonies through the use of light of a power density and wavelength configured to be absorbed by porphyrins produced by the bacteria, resulting in a quenching. Various alternative embodiments are disclosed, including eye safe embodiments, embodiments in which a treatment regimen is provided on a disposable cartridge, embodiments in which the authenticity of the cartridge is verified to ensure proper operation, as well as others.
