摘要: Disclosed is a process for making hexafluoro-2-butyne comprising the steps of: (a) providing a composition comprising CF3CX═CXCF3, where X=halogen; and (b) treating CF3CX═CXCF3 with a dehalogenation catalyst in the presence of a halogen acceptor compound Y, where Y is not hydrogen. The halogen acceptor compound Y is a material capable of being halogenated, preferably a compound having a multiple bond, such as an alkyne, alkene, allene, or carbon monoxide. Another suitable material capable of being halogenated is a cyclopropane. A catalyst effectively transfers halogen from CF3CX═CXCF3 to the halogen acceptor compound. Since Y is not hydrogen, the formation of CF3CX═CHCF3 is greatly reduced or eliminated.

摘要: Disclosed in one embodiment is a process for the synthesis of 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene that comprises (a) reacting a compound of formula (I) X1X2 with a compound of formula (II) CF3CH═CH2 to produce a reaction product comprising a compound of formula (III) CF3CHX1CH2X2, wherein X1 and X2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chlorine, bromine and iodine, provided that X1 and X2 are not both hydrogen; (b) when X2 in formula (III) is not fluorine, fluorinating the compound of formula (III) to produce a reaction product comprising a compound of formula (III) wherein X1 is as described above and X2 is fluorine; and (c) exposing said compound of formula (III) to reaction conditions effective to convert said compound to 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene.

摘要: A process for preparing 1-chloro-1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropane, CF3CH2CF2Cl, comprising contacting in a reaction zone in the substantial absence of oxygen, reactants comprising chlorine and 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane, CF3CH2CHF2 (also referred to as HFC-245fa), and subjecting the reactants to actinic radiation, such as UV light at about 2,000 to 4,000 Angstroms, wherein: (1) inert gas is present at a concentration equal to or less than about 5 wt. % of the total weight of reactants; (2) the molar ratio of chlorine to CF3CH2CHF2 is from about 0.2:1 to about 1.5:1; and (3) the concentration of chlorinated product produced having greater than one chlorine present in the molecule is less than or equal to about 10 wt. %.

摘要: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of fluorine-containing olefins comprising contacting a chlorofluoroalkane with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst at a temperature sufficient to cause replacement of the chlorine substituents of the chlorofluoroalkane with hydrogen to produce a fluorine-containing olefin. Also disclosed are catalyst compositions for the hydrodechlorination of chlorofluoroalkanes comprising copper metal deposited on a support, and comprising palladium deposited on calcium fluoride, poisoned with lead and reducing the in the presence or absence of a dehydrochlorination catalyst under conditions effective to form a product stream comprising cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (HFO-1336).

摘要: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of fluorinated olefins. In preferred embodiments C3 olefins are produced by methods comprising contacting a compound of the Formula (I) C(R1aR2bR3c) (I) with a compound of Formula (II) C(R1aR2bR3c)Cn(R1aR2bR3c) II wherein R1a, R2b, and R3c are independently a hydrogen atom or a halogen selected from the group consisting of fluorine; chlorine, bromine and iodine, provided that the compound of formula I has at least three halogen substituents and that said at three halogen substituents comprise at least one fluorine; a, b and c are independently=0, 1, 2 or 3 and (a+b+c)=2 or 3; and n is 0 or 1, under conditions effective to produce at least one C3 fluoroolefin.
