The use of oxazolidinone derivatives in a composition for topical application, especially a cosmetic or dermatological composition, in particular as anti-penetrating agents. These derivatives make it possible especially to prevent the penetration of active agents which are compatible with the skin, the hair and/or mucous membranes, and thus to reduce, or even eliminate altogether, the side effects of these active agents without decreasing their efficacy. Thus, the cosmetic or dermatological compositions containing such active agents make it possible to soften the skin, mucous membranes and the hair.

This composition consists in an aqueous dispersion D, lamellar structure lipid vesicles encapsulating an aqueous phase E; it is characterised by the fact that the lipid phase forming the layers of the said vesicles is at least partly made up of a compound as formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents a linear saturated on unsaturated hydrocarbonated chain containing 9 to 17 carbon atoms. The compounds (I) have the advantage that they are easily biodegradable and of very low cytotoxicity.

The process includes the joint use, with the base composition, of an effective amount of a dispersion of vesicles in a medium, the vesicles comprising at least one ceramide of formula (I): wherein R1 is chosen from saturated and unsaturated, linear and branched C1-C32 alkyl groups optionally substituted by at least one hydroxyl group, wherein said at least one hydroxyl group is optionally esterified by a group chosen from C1-C35 acyls; and R2 is chosen from saturated and unsaturated, linear and branched C1-C50 alkyl groups optionally substituted by at least one hydroxyl groups, and wherein said at least one hydroxyl group is optionally esterified by a group chosen from C1-C30 acyls.

The NAD and/or the NADP can advantageously be encapsulated in vesicles of lamellar lipidic structure. This composition is usable for the protection of the skin against solar irradiation.
