    摘要: In order to discriminate minute particles such as biological particles or organic polymers, a suspension of minute particles is formed into a particle stream with the individual particles substantially separated from each other, the particle stream is irradiated with a high-intensity light beam, the particle stream irradiated with the high-intensity light beam is formed into droplets, and the particle in each droplet is discriminated in accordance with the intensity of light emited from the particle upon irradiation with the high-intensity light beam. In discriminating the particles, a high-intensity light pulse is used as the high-intensity light beam, and each minute particle is discriminated in accordance with a change in the emitted light intensity over a period of time.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for measuring the methane concentration in a gas, which comprises transmitting light having at least one wavelength band selected from a band of 1.6 .mu.m and a band of 1.3 .mu.m through an optical fiber having a small transmission loss in said wavelength bands to a measuring cell where an ambient gas comes in and out, absorbing the light in at least one characteristic absorption wavelength of methane gas, selected from a wavelength of 1.666 .mu.m and a wavelength of 1.331 .mu.m, in said measuring cell, transmitting the light through an optical fiber having a small transmission loss in at least one wavelength band selected from a band of 1.6 .mu.m and a band of 1.3 .mu.m to a band-pass filter, separating the light into at least one light having the methane gas absorption wavelength, that is, the wavelength to be measured, and at least one light having other reference wavelength, determining the intensity ratio of the light having the wavelength to be measured to the light having the reference wavelength, and calculating the methane gas concentration in the measuring cell from the so-determined intensity ratio.

    摘要: A data processing system having one or more processor modules and a plurality of shared memory busses to increase its total system performance. Processor modules send bus requests to a bus arbiter, when they attempt to make access to shared memories or memory-mapped peripheral control modules. When such memory access requests are received, the bus arbiter checks the availability of each bus that will be used to reach the requested memories, and send bus grant signals to the requesting processor modules after resolving conflicts, if any. Since the system provides separate paths to reach the individual shared memories, two or more processor modules can be granted their access requests at the same time.
