摘要: An image forming apparatus allows an image carrier, a developing unit and a cleaning device each having a different service life to be detachably mounted in a housing thereof. The developing and cleaning devices are rotatably supported to constitute an image forming unit. The image forming unit is detachably supported by a first rotatable body which is mounted to the apparatus housing. The image carrier is detachably supported by opposite side plates of the apparatus housing or by a second rotatable body which is supported by the apparatus housing to be rotatable independently of the first rotatable body. A positioning arrangement is provided for controlling the rotation of the developing and cleaning devices so that the image forming unit and the image carrier may be prevented from interfering with each other when the unit is moved toward and away from the image carrier.

摘要: A holder device for handling a replaceable image carrier of an image forming apparatus. A photoconductive element mounted in an electrophotographic copier or similar apparatus and to which toner adheres can be dismounted and replaced with a new photoconductive element with ease and without touching it. A box-like holder has receiving sections for accommodating the old and new photoconductive elements individually. The receiving sections are each provided with guide slots for grasping and guiding opposite ends of a shaft on which a photoconductive element is mounted and openings each being contiguous with a respective one of the guide slots, said guide slots and openings being formed through each of opposite end walls of a housing of the holder device. Lugs are provided on the end walls of the housing to cancel the restraint of restraining members which prevent the ends of a shaft of a photoconductive element from slipping out of the copier, as the holder is sequentially moved into the copier.

摘要: A cylindrical electrode (26) is disposed in a tubular housing (22) and applied with an electric potential opposite in polarity to a charge on usable toner particles removed from a photoconductive drum (13). A fur brush (21) bifunctions to remove the toner and foreign matter from the drum (13) and create an air flow which carries the toner and foreign matter through a passageway (41) defined between the housing (22) and cylinder (26). The foreign matter is carried into a foreign matter chamber (29) by centrifugal force while the toner adheres to the cylinder (26) which is rotated in the same direction as the air flow. The toner is carried past a blade (34) which extends closely adjacent to the cylinder (26) into a toner recovery chamber (31) from which it is scrapingly removed from the cylinder (26) and recycled.

摘要: An image recorder includes a cleaning unit having an opening which faces a photoconductive drum in a predetermined set position of the unit, and other process units which are arranged around the drum together with the cleaning unit. A process kit which at least includes the cleaning unit is removable from the image recorder independently of the drum. The image recorder is constituted by an upper and a lower unit, the upper unit being openable away from the lower unit. A member is provided which opens and closes the opening of the cleaning unit in an interlocked relation with the upper unit. The drum and process kit may be opened and closed together with the upper unit or, alternatively, the process unit may be opened and closed together with the upper unit with the drum retained by the lower unit, as desired.

摘要: An image forming apparatus of the type including a plurality of process means for developing an electrostatic latent image provided on an image carrier to produce a visible image, transferring the visible image to a transfer material, and cleaning the image carrier after the image transfer. The image carrier and at least one image forming unit are individually removably mounted on a body of the apparatus. A first and a second sensor are provided for sensing, respectively, the end of the life of the image forming unit and that of the image carrier. Even when the end of the life of the image carrier is sensed, an indication for urging a person to replace the image forming unit being used is not produced if the life of the image forming unit has not expired, allowing the apparatus to be continuously used. It is not until the end of the life of the image forming unit is sensed next that an indication for urging a person to replace both of the image carrier and the image forming unit is produced.

摘要: Apparatus for collecting charged toner particles suspended in an air flow is provided. The present apparatus is particularly useful when used in combination with a fur brush cleaning device of a transfer type electrophotographic copying machine. The present collection apparatus comprises a roller electrode and a counter electrode disposed opposite to the peripheral surface of the roller electrode. A blade is provided in contact with the roller electrode. The roller electrode includes an insulating section which always keeps in contact with a portion of the blade thereby roller and counter electrodes are prevented from being bridged by deposited toner particles. A disposable filter unit may be advantageously mounted on the collection apparatus.

The transfer roll (14) moves while rotating. For example, the transfer roll (14) moves in any period of time before the ink (K) is transferred from the transfer roll (14) to the to-be-printed object (S), after the ink (K) is transferred from the transfer roll (14) to the to-be-printed object (S), and when the ink (K) is in contact with both the transfer roll (14) and the to-be-printed object (S).

摘要: A method for manufacturing a magnetic sensor that decreases area resistance and decreases MR ratio of the sensor by eliminating any oxide formation in the capping layer of the sensor. The method includes forming a sensor stack having a multi-layer capping structure formed there-over. The multi-layer capping structure can include first, second, third and fourth layers. The second layer is constructed of a material that is not easily oxidized and which is different from the first layer. The sensor can be formed using a mask that includes a carbon hard mask. After the sensor stack has been formed by ion milling, the hard mask can be removed by reactive ion etching. Then, a cleaning process is performed to remove the second, third and fourth layers of the capping layer structure using an end point detection method such as secondary ion mass spectrometry to detect the presence of the second layer.

摘要: In one embodiment, a magnetic head includes a magnetoresistive free layer, wherein a width of the free layer nearest an air bearing surface (ABS) is less than a width of the free layer at a point away from the ABS in a track width direction, with the magnetic head being configured to pass a sense current in a direction perpendicular to a plane of deposition of the free layer. In another embodiment, a method includes forming a magnetoresistive film above a shield, forming a masking layer above the magnetoresistive film, patterning the masking layer such that it exposes portions of the magnetoresistive film, wherein the masking layer defines an area which is narrow near an area that forms an ABS side of a free layer and wider at an area away from the ABS, and removing the exposed portions of the magnetoresistive film to form the free layer.

摘要: A process for producing a food is disclosed. The food material is contacted with a degradative enzyme and any one or more of a thickener in a non-solvated state, microorganism which generates a viscous material, nutritious substance and seasoning according to need. Then, a pressure treatment is performed followed by cooking after softening the food material by the action of the degradative enzyme. The process may be carried out in a packaging material for vacuum packaging such that the food retains the shape, color, taste, and flavor of the food material and includes the degradative enzyme inside the vacuum packaging uniformly.
