Abstract: A user equipment uses extended discontinuous reception (DRX) when the user equipment is in connected mode with a communication network. The extended DRX comprises extended DRX cycles and offsets, which are based on a value of a specific DRX cycle. The user equipment receives (S31) signaling from the communication network, the signaling comprising an extended DRX cycle indication and offset value, calculates (S32) an extended DRX cycle from the extended DRX cycle indication and an offset from the offset value, using the value of the specific DRX cycle, and executes (S33) the DRX when the user equipment is in the connected mode with the extended DRX cycle calculated and the offset calculated.

Abstract: An apparatus of a communication network detects that a modification of a radio resource control connection for a user equipment is required. The apparatus decides, based on the detected modification requirement, if a re-establishment of a packet data convergence protocol is required for a first radio bearer and/or a second radio bearer, and indicates, in a radio resource control reconfiguration message, the first radio bearer and/or the second radio bearer for which re-establishment of the packet data convergence protocol is required. The user equipment detects, from the radio resource control reconfiguration message, that a modification of a radio resource control connection between the user equipment and the communication network is required, and re-establishes the packet data convergence protocol for the first radio bearer and/or the second radio bearer in accordance with the indication set in the radio resource control reconfiguration message.

Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from buffer reporting. For example, in systems in which user equipment may use dual connectivity, it may be useful to provide cross-reporting of empty or non-empty buffers to each base station. A method can include determining, at a device for a plurality of cell groups, whether there is data to transmit on each cell group. The method can also include cross-reporting, to a base station of a first cell group of the plurality of cell groups, a buffer status indication corresponding to a second cell group of the plurality of cell groups. The buffer status indication can be a binary indication corresponding to the second cell group.

Abstract: A method includes determining at a User Equipment (UE) that logged Minimization of Drive Tests measurements (MDT) is configured and thus a plurality of MDT measurements are to be made and results of said measurements are to be stored for reporting at a later time. It is determined that said measurements are to be stopped (suspended) for various reasons (such as the UE being in any cell selection mode or camping on any cell) and information indicating a reason why said measurements are to be stopped (suspended) is stored in the measurement log.

Abstract: The present invention provides apparatuses, methods, computer programs, computer program products and computer-readable media regarding real-time segmentation. The present invention comprises composing, on a first layer, a first layer packet data unit, PDU, having a predetermined length, including a plurality of first layer service data units, SDUs, each of the plurality of first layer SDUs including a header indicating a length of each of the first layer SDUs, and inserting a certain number of the plurality of the first layer SDUs into the first layer PDU corresponding to the predetermined length of the first layer PDU, if it is determined that a last one of the certain number of the plurality of first layer SDUs does not fit completely into the first layer PDU, segmenting the last one of the certain number of the plurality of first layer SDUs according to the predetermined length of the first layer PDU, and inserting a first part of the segmented first layer SDU into the first layer PDU, wherein the header indicates the length of the first layer.

Abstract: Improved mechanisms for wireless cellular access using coverage extension techniques are described. A UE needing to use coverage extension to request access to a prospective serving cell detects cells (other than the prospective serving cell) on its frequency, and then investigates each such cell (for example, by attempting to read its system information block and, if the system information block can be read, determining if the cell supports access using coverage extension. If detected cells do not support coverage extension, the UE does not use coverage extension techniques to request access, but if all detected cells support coverage extension, the UE requests access using coverage extension techniques.
