    摘要: In an electric discharge machine, wherein electric power is supplied between an electrode and a workpiece to machine the workpiece, a jumping motion is performed to temporarily increase a distance between the electrode and the workpiece. The electric discharge machine includes a detector for detecting a machining reaction force; a setting unit for setting a specified value of the machining reaction force; a comparator for comparing a detected value of the machining reaction force with a specified value of the machining reaction force; and a changing unit for changing a locus of the jumping motion so that the machining reaction force can be reduced if the comparator finds that the detected value of the machining reaction force is greater than the specified value of the machining reaction force.

    摘要: An electrical discharge machine feeds an electrode wire received within a guide tube to a process region of a machined article. The electrical discharge machine includes a cylindrical hollow driving shaft arranged in a vertical direction, which has a space for receiving the guide tube with the electrode wire along a vertical central axis. A head assembly includes a first holding member for holding the guide tube, and a second holding member for holding the electrode wire extending from a bottom opening of the guide tube. The head assembly is detachably coupled with a bottom portion of the driving shaft. Therefore, the electrode wire can be replaced by replacing the head assembly.

    摘要: A layered anisotropically conductive element, a resistant element, and a feed element constitute an electrode for discharge machining. The layered anisotropically conductive element includes high conductivity layers and low conductivity layers alternately laminated on each other, the high conductivity layers and the low conductivity layers being made of thin metallic plates coated with an insulating film. The layered anisotropically conductive element has an anisotropic conductivity, in which the conductivity in a direction parallel to the low conductivity layers is much higher than that in a direction perpendicular to the low conductivity layers. The resistant element is connected to one of end surfaces of the layered anisotropically conductive element perpendicular to the layers. The feed element is connected to the resistant element.

A tool electrode has a tip end directed toward a work piece, a voltage applied between the tool electrode and the work piece generating a discharge. A drive shaft is connected with the tool electrode. An electrode driving device has magnetic bearings for moving the drive shaft in three directions, including a Z-axis direction, which is an axial direction of the drive shaft, a Y-axis direction perpendicularly crossing the Z-axis direction, and an X-axis direction perpendicularly crossing the Y-axis direction and Z-axis direction, by supplying electric current to electromagnetic portions to control magnetic attraction. A movable coupling is connected with an end of the drive shaft and is movable in the three directions. An electric motor is connected with an end of the coupling for rotating the drive shaft through the coupling.
