    摘要： When trifluoroethyl methacrylate, hexafluoroisopropyl methacrylate, pentafluoro-n-propyl methacrylate and/or pentafluoro-n-butyl methacrylate which are fluorine-containing monomers, are added to a conventional monomer mixture for producing a soft contact lens, the resulting soft contact lens has the same optical properties and elasticity as conventional soft contact lenses have, and is very superior to the conventional ones in resistance to deposit and in shape stability.

    摘要： A soft contact lens having a water content of at least 45% and a tensile strength of at least 100 g/mm.sup.2 can be produced by pouring into a mold a composition consisting of 70 to 93% by weight of an alkylene glycol monoacrylate or monomethacrylate, 0.3 to 2.0% by weight of a polyfunctional monomer, 1 to 10% by weight of a monomer having at least one carboxyl group in its molecule and 5 to 20% by weight of an acrylic or methacrylic acid derivative, raising the temperature of the composition from 35.degree. C to 110.degree. C continuously to effect polymerization, processing the resulting formed product into a lens, and then swelling the lens thus obtained by hydration treatment including alkali treatment.

    摘要： A high-hydration contact lens having a high strength is disclosed which is made of a copolymer composed of (i) 40 to 90 wt. % of N,N-dimethyl acrylamide, (ii) 5 to 50 wt. % of a hydrophobic monomer, (iii) 0.1 to 10 wt. % of an unsaturated carboxylic acid having one ethylenically unsaturated bond, and (iv) 0.01 to 5.0 wt. % of a crosslinking agent, wherein the hydrophobic monomer is selected from the group consisting of phenyl acrylates, benzyl acrylates, phenyl methacrylates, benzyl methacrylates, alkyl acrylates, alkyl methacrylates, cyclohexyl acrylates and cyclohexyl methacrylates, and the crosslinking agent is selected from those represented by formula (I), (II), or (III) ##STR1## wherein X represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, a is an integer of 2 to 23, and b and c each is an integer of 2 to 14.
