摘要: An apparatus for handling an optical card which is generally rectangular in shape and formed with a first plurality of circular, concentric recording tracks and a second plurality of arc-shaped, concentric recording tracks in each of a pair of sectors defined by a pair of hypothetical diagonal lines of the card and located outside of the first plurality of circular, concentric recording tracks. An optical pick-up is moved to a desired track first by a coarse seek operation which uses the difference between a selected count and the count from a linear sensor, and a fine seek operation which uses the sum of a track correspondence voltage and a track error signal.

摘要: A light beam splitting element that is arranged on an optical path of a light beam emitted from a VCSEL element splits an incident light beam into a first light beam and a second light beam. An optical system focuses the first light beam on the scanning surface and moves an optical spot formed by a focused light beam on the scanning surface in the main scanning direction. A light receiving element that is mounted on a circuit board receives the second light beam. A dust-proof member bridges a space between the circuit board and a circuit-board holding member that holds the circuit board and surrounds the light receiving element.

摘要: A light source including a plurality of light emitting areas formed in a two-dimension array is mounted on a substrate. A holding member holds an optical system that shapes a laser beam emitted from each of the light emitting areas, a splitting element that splits a part of the laser beam passed through the optical system, and a light receiving system that receives split laser beam. A base member including an aligning unit that aligns the light source in a direction along an optical axis of the optical system and a direction perpendicular to the optical axis is connected to the holding member. An elastic member presses the substrate against the base member.

摘要: An optical scanning apparatus is constructed to detect one or more defective or damaged light emitting devices of a light source unit and forms images having substantially the same quality as that of the images formed when all of a plurality of light emitting devices of a light source of the apparatus are functioning normally even when any one of the plurality of light emitting devices are damaged or broken, without decreasing the image forming performance of the apparatus. The optical scanning apparatus detects one or more damaged or broken light emitting devices and then compensates for the light omitted due to the damaged or broken light emitting devices using the normally functioning light emitting devices without decreasing the image forming speed or quality of the optical scanning apparatus. In order to compensate for a defective light emitting device, the optical scanning apparatus uses various solutions such as increasing the rotating speed of the deflector while increasing the modulation speed of the light emitting devices by the same amount, increasing beam spot diameter in the subscanning direction, changing the output power of the light emitting devices on a surface to be scanned in order to increase beam spot diameter in the main scanning direction and the subscanning direction, and changing the focal length of the line image forming optical apparatus and increasing either the rotation speed of the deflector or the rotation speed of the surface to be scanned or photoconductive drum.
