An electronic control system is provided which controls the locking and unlocking of a variable speed automatic transmission. A hydraulic control circuit comprising a plurality of hydraulic pressure controlling valves, a plurality of flow path switching means and a plurality of solenoid valves is provided to control the engagement of the clutches and brakes of the automatic transmission. The electronic control system detects a slope, modifies a portion of standard data in a manner corresponding to the detected slope to produce shift reference data which is then written into a read-write memory, compares the actual speed stage, throttle opening and vehicle speed against the shift reference data to determine the speed stage to which the transmission is to be shifted and controls the energization of the solenoid valves to change or shift the speed stage. Additionally, the electronic control system reads the minimum vehicle speed required to establish lockup and the maximum vehicle speed for unlocking which correspond to the actual speed stage and the throttle opening from lockup controlling reference data, compares them against the actual vehicle speed to determine the necessity of lockup or unlocking and controls the energization of the solenoid valves in accordance with the determination to establish a lockup or an unlocked condition.

An electronic system for controlling an automatic transmission having an hydraulic control circuit comprises a large scale integrated semiconductor logic unit, a semiconductor read-only memory, a semiconductor read-write memory and input and output ports as required. The read-only memory fixedly stores standard data indicating the upper and the lower limit value of vehicle speed which correspond to the individual throttle openings of the engine for each shift lever position of a vehicle on which the automatic transmission, the hydraulic control circuit and the electronic system are mounted; slope detecting reference data indicating the vehicle speeds on slopes which correspond to the throttle opening in each shift lever position; slope detecting program data which is utilized to detect a slope as a result of the comparison between the reference data on one hand and the current shift lever position, the current throttle opening and the current vehicle speed; additional program data which is utilized to modify at least part of the standard data in response to a slope detected to produce shift reference data which corresponds to the slope; shift determining program data which determines a speed range to be established in response to the comparison of the current speed range, the current throttle opening and the current vehicle speed against the shift reference data; and shift controlling program data responsive to the determined speed range to control the energization of the solenoid valves.In accordance with the slope detecting program data, the electronic system detects a slope, and modifies the standard data in response to the slope detected, in accordance with the modifying program data, thus producing a shift reference data, which is then written into the read-write memory. In addition, the electronic system compares against the current speed range, the current throttle opening and the vehicle speed against the shift reference data to determine a speed range to which the transmission is to be switched, generally in accordance with the shift determining program data.

The energization of the solenoid valves of the hydraulic control circuit is controlled by an electronic system, which comprises a large scale integrated semiconductor logic unit, a semiconductor read-only memory, a semiconductor read-write memory and as required, input/output ports.A plurality of signals are applied to the electronic system, including a signal indicative of shift lever position supplied by shift lever detecting means, a signal indicative of the current vehicle speed supplied by vehicle speed signal generating means and a signal indicative of the throttle opening supplied by throttle opening detecting means. In response to these signals and in accordance with the program data and constants data, the electronic system determines a new gear ratio to be established. If the shift mode, defined by a combination of the current gear ratio and the new gear ratio to be established, has a likelihood to produce drive train noises, the shift controlling sub-program data is utilized to delay the timing at which the shift controlling solenoid valves are deenergized and energized, thus avoiding or reducing the occurrence of drive train noises during the shift operation.

The semiconductor read-only memory stores, inter alia, hydraulic pressure control program data which become operative during a selected one of the shift modes, each of which comprises a combination of the current speed stage and the speed stage to be established, and which controls the hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic control circuit by a repeated deenergization and energization of the solenoid valve for a given time interval during the shift operation.A signal indicative of a shift lever position is applied to the electronic system from a shift lever detecting means. Also a signal indicative of the current vehicle speed is applied thereto from a vehicle speed signal generating means. Finally, a signal indicative of a throttle opening is applied to the system from a throttle opening detecting means. In response to these signals and based on the constants data and the program data which are stored in the read-only memory, the electronic system determines a speed stage to be established. The hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic control circuit is controlled, simultaneously with a switching of the speed stage, on the basis of the hydraulic pressure controlling program data, thus reducing any rapid fluctuation of the vehicle speed or impulses during a shift operation.

A signal generator is provided which produces a signal indicative of a throttle position of an engine on a vehicle. A plurality of split electrodes are formed on a printed electrical circuit substrate, and are connected with respective output leads. A less than 360.degree. rotating shaft which is connected with a rotatable shaft of a throttle valve has secured thereto an electrically conductive slider having a plurality of radially extending legs which fixedly carry contact members disposed for contact with the plurality of split electrodes. Each contact member corresponds to only one split electrode. A lead which is connected to one of the split electrodes assumes a ground potential or a constant positive potential. Consequently, the potential of the slider is maintained at such ground or constant positive potential, while the remaining split electrodes assume the ground or the constant positive potential only when they are engaged by contact members on the slider. In this manner, the output is in the form of a bi-level signal, and the combination of outputs from the plurality of leads constitute together a code. The pattern of the plurality of split electrodes which provides a coded output is configured such that a change in the potential occurs only in one bit of the code for each rotation of the rotating shaft through a given angle. Thus, a Gray code is formed for the angle of rotation of the rotating shaft.

There is provided a running device for track-laying vehicle, which can resolve a feeling of fear of falling height in a leading end portion of a crawler while relax a large impact when the crawler runs over a raised contact area. The running device includes a spring constant equalizing unit that equalizes an apparent spring constant of a second arm of lower track roller bogie device over a total length. The apparent spring constant is generated in maximum reverse camber of the crawler. The spring constant equalizing unit increases an oscillation angle α of the second arm that can abut on the first arm in the maximum reverse camber of the crawler such that the oscillation angle α of the second arm is larger than a crossing angle β of the connecting link. Desirably the increased maximum oscillation angle of the second arm is 1.3-2.0 times the crossing angle β.

An equalizer bar itself serving as a suspension device of a track-type vehicle has spring effects imparted through torsional deformation relative to vertical oscillatory movements of track frames. Arm portions are fixed in directions opposite to each other in two ends of an equalizer bar main body. Free end portions of the arm portions are individually supported in the track frames to be rotatable in directions opposite to each other. The track frames are therefore regulated in the magnitudes of oscillatory movements according to the spring effects of the equalizer bar main body, whereby travel-time oscillations, oscillatory movements, and/or the like of the vehicle body are sufficiently restrained.
