摘要： Drawing methods and drawing furnaces for drawing an optical fiber with small non-circularity by simple drawing system are provided. An optical fiber preform is received into a muffle tube and heated by a primary heater placed to surround the muffle tube. The optical fiber preform is heated such that a starting position of a meniscus portion is higher in its position than the top of the primary heater, wherein the meniscus portion is created at the bottom portion of the optical fiber preform.

摘要： A protective cover is detachably fixed onto a spool to protect an optical fiber wound on the spool. The protective cover includes a pair of half-cylindrical cover members coupled together by a hinge and locked together by a locking mechanism. When an external force allows a pair of hinge members of the hinge to abut together, edges of the cover members are apart from each other at an angle of 2 to 7 degrees as viewed with respect to the center of the hinge. The edges of the cover members are then abut together by an additional external force to lock the locking mechanism.

摘要： A computerized method of compressing symbolic information organized into a plurality of documents, each document having a plurality of symbols, includes: (i) automatically identifying a plurality of sequential and non-sequential symbol pairs in an input document; (ii) counting the number of appearances of each unique symbol pair; and (iii) producing a compressed document that includes a replacement symbol at each position associated with one of the plurality of symbol pairs, at least one of which corresponds to a non-sequential symbol pair. For each non-sequential pair the compressed document includes corresponding indicia indicating a distance between locations of the non-sequential symbols of the pair in the input document. In some instances the plurality of symbol pairs includes only those pairs of non-sequential symbols for which the distance between locations of the non-sequential symbols of the pair in the input document is less than a numeric distance cap.

摘要： A computerized method and apparatus compresses symbolic information, such as text. Symbolic information is compressed by recursively identifying pairs of symbols (e.g., pairs of words or characters) and replacing each pair with a respective replacement symbol. The number of times each symbol pair appears in the uncompressed text is counted, and pairs are only replaced if they appear more than a threshold number of times. In recursive passes, each replaced pair can include a previously substituted replacement symbol. The method and apparatus can achieve high compression especially for large datasets. Metadata, such as the number of times each pair appears, generated during compression of the documents can be used to analyze the documents and find similarities between two documents.

摘要： An unsprung state detection part (140) calculates a variation amount X (=|φ−φ′|), which is a magnitude of a difference between a detected angle φ output from a resolver rotational angle sensor (40) for detecting a rotational angle of an in-wheel motor (30) and an estimated angle φ′ of a motor rotational angle (S11 to S13). The estimated angle φ′ can be calculated by adding an estimated angle of the rotation of the motor (30) in one calculation cycle to a detected angle φn−1 of the previous calculation cycle. When the variation amount X is more than a road surface determination threshold Xref, the unsprung state detection part (140) determines that the travel road on which a vehicle (1) is traveling is a rough road (S14, S15). As a result, the road surface determination can be made by using the rotational angle sensor (40).

摘要： A location support relating to a mobile station that can make use of multiple communication networks more efficiently. In an SUPL server of a location system, a judgment is made as to which of two communication networks is accessed by a mobile station based on information specifying the access point of the mobile station, with this access point being notified from the mobile station, whereby the information is then notified from the SUPL server to a location information management device. As a result, in the location information management device, requests to a communication network, which is not accessed by the mobile station, for location information for use in location of the mobile station are suppressed. This makes it possible for location support relating to a mobile station capable of using multiple communication networks to be carried out more efficiently.
