    摘要: A protective cover is detachably fixed onto a spool to protect an optical fiber wound on the spool. The protective cover includes a pair of half-cylindrical cover members coupled together by a hinge and locked together by a locking mechanism. When an external force allows a pair of hinge members of the hinge to abut together, edges of the cover members are apart from each other at an angle of 2 to 7 degrees as viewed with respect to the center of the hinge. The edges of the cover members are then abut together by an additional external force to lock the locking mechanism.

The device may also include a lagging for enclosing at least a portion of the well. The method may comprise winding the electric cable around the drum and within the well, and placing the electric cable component within the cavity. The method may further include coupling the lagging to the reel.

    摘要: A spool gripper is coupled to any one of the flanges provided at both sides of a spool wound with a semiconductor device bonding wire thereon. The spool gripper has an inner diameter portion for receiving a spool holder when the spool is fitted to the spool holder, a coupling portion coupled to the circumference of the flange while bearing a diameter larger than the inner diameter portion, and an outer diameter portion with a diameter larger than the coupling portion. The worker grips the outer diameter portion to handle the spool. The handling of the spool can be made without directly touching the spool. The wire bonding operation is made while the gripper is coupled to the flange. Therefore, it is not necessary to decouple the gripper from the flange to make the wire bonding operation. Accordingly, the durability of the gripper and the reliability in the spool holding can be maintained without deterioration while preventing separation of the spool from the gripper. Irrespective of the length of the spool holder or the presence of the spool fixation member, the spool handling unit can be used with any type spool holder.

The sidewall of the base is partially provided with an opening portion. A slide coupling member is internally formed at the base such that the slide coupling member is fitted to the flange portion of the spool when the spool slides inward through the opening portion.

    摘要: A lighttight package for rolled light-sensitive material includes a core, light-impervious flanges at opposite ends of the core, a roll of the light-sensitive material wound on the core between the flanges, and a light-shielding circumferential wrapper enclosing the roll. The flanges each have a circumferential groove extending radially inwardly from the periphery thereof into which the axial margins of the wrapper are folded radially inwardly and inserted and retained, preferably by a clamping action. The groove is defined between opposed wall sections of the flange and at least one of the wall section can be relatively flexible to facilitate insertion of the wrapper margin therein. The inner termination of the wrapper margin within the groove can be re-entrantly bent and a cord or string can be laid within the re-entrant bend to provide greater security against premature withdrawal of the wrapper margins from the groove. The wrapper can be attached at a trailing edge to the leading end of the material roll so that a free opposite edge of the wrapper can serve as a leader for starting the unwinding of the roll.

    摘要: A packaging arrangement is shown herein for protecting high voltage, pipe-type, impregnated paper insulated cable during long distance shipping. An annular channel is provided along the inside radial face of a cable reel to receive first and second vapor barrier blankets which may comprise laminated layers of polyolefin, aluminum foil and polyethlene. An adhesive is spread throughout the open portion of the channel. A first steel banding wire annularly secures the first two blankets within the annular channel and a synthetic rubber adhesive is disposed over the two blankets and wire. A third blanket comprising a laminate of polyvinyl chloride and Nylon is then disposed over the composite formed up to this point and a second banding wire is tightly secured about the overall composite. The second wire is so positioned as to bear down in a plane extending generally parallel to the radius of the circle described by the first wire so as to be axially spaced therefrom. Finally, an Aluminum Cold Spray layer having a thickness of some thirty to forty mils and including methylethylketone, acetone and metallic solids is disposed over the entire arrangement. A wooden enclosure is then provided circumferentially about the reel.
