    Abstract: An overtube is provided with a flexible elongated portion provided with a channel, the channel is configured to pass therethrough in a longitudinal direction of the elongated portion so as to insert a medical device; a shape fixing mechanism provided in the elongated portion, and the shape fixing mechanism switches the state of the elongated portion between a bendable state and a shape-fixed state; and a gate mechanism disposed on a base-end side of the elongated portion, the gate mechanism is configured to close the channel when the state of the elongated portion is switched to the bendable state, and open the channel when the state of the elongated portion is switched to the shape-fixed state.

    Abstract: An endoscope auxiliary tool includes a first support section which is formed to extend along a longitudinal axis, a second support section which is formed substantially in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the first support section, a first protrusion section and a second protrusion section which are formed at distal end sections of the first support section and the second support section, respectively, and disposed more distal than the distal end section of the endoscope to sandwich an axis of a channel having an opening at the distal end section of the endoscope, and a positioning section which is configured to position the first protrusion section and the second protrusion section with respect to the distal end section of the endoscope such that the first support section and the second support section are inclined to the axis of the channel.

    Abstract: A medical device insertion method includes: inserting an endoscope into an overtube until a distal end of the endoscope protrudes from a distal end of the overtube; grasping a part of the endoscope protruding from the distal end of the overtube and inserting the endoscope into the large intestine until the distal end of the endoscope is between the splenic flexure and the sigmoid colon of the large intestine; and inserting the overtube together with the endoscope into the large intestine until the distal end of the endoscope is beyond the splenic flexure while grasping the overtube from an outer radial direction so as to deform the overtube in an inner radial direction until an inner surface of the overtube is pressed against an outer circumferential surface of the endoscope, and then inserting the overtube into the large intestine until a reinforced region is placed in the splenic flexure.

    Abstract: A medical system includes a medical device, an over-tube, and a console. The medical device includes an insertion portion. The over-tube is configured to receive the insertion portion. A console having a first connector is attached to the medical device and a second connector is attached to the over-tube. The over-tube has a tubular main body and a proximal-end portion. The proximal-end portion comprises a tubular member having an insertion port for receiving the insertion portion of the medical device therethrough. A base portion is coupled to the second connector and a moving mechanism is coupled to both the tubular member and the base portion. The moving mechanism is configured to cause the tubular member to move with respect to the second connector such that the tubular member has two or more degrees of freedom with respect to the second connector.

    Abstract: An endoscope system includes: an insertion part inserted into a body; an observation part provided at the insertion part and observing an inside of a viewing range defined in the front thereof; an arm part manipulated to be bent, a proximal end portion of which is provided at the insertion part, and which has an opening of a channel, through which a treatment tool is inserted, provided at a distal end side thereof; a first detection part detecting an out-of-viewing-range state where a center axis line in the opening of the channel does not pass through the viewing range; a second detection part detecting that the treatment tool has been inserted through the channel; and an alert part alerting a user when the second detection part detects that the treatment tool has been inserted through the channel and the first detection part detects the out-of-viewing-range state.
