    Abstract: An energy surgical instrument includes first and second grasping pieces for grasping a blood vessel. At least one of the grasping pieces is designed to apply treatment energy to a grasped blood vessel. The instrument also includes a processor designed to set a wall thickness of the blood vessel, and a grasping force adjuster designed to adjust a grasping force applied by the first and second grasping pieces. A first grasping force is applied when the wall thickness set by the processor is larger than a predetermined thickness, and a second grasping force, which is larger than the first grasping force, is applied when the wall thickness set by the processor is equal to or smaller than the predetermined thickness. A treatment method includes applying treatment energy to a blood vessel grasped by the first and second grasping pieces of the instrument to seal the blood vessel.

    Abstract: In a treatment instrument, a load force center of a load force, which is a sum of gravity acting on the treatment instrument and an external force caused by a connected cable, is positioned between two support members of a handle section, and a location of introduction of the cable is disposed in a manner to extend therebetween. In the treatment instrument, an ultrasonic vibration element unit is attached and rotatably coupled to a handle unit, a power receiving section or a power supply section at the coupling constitutes a rotary electrode structure by a cylindrical electrode and a terminal electrode, and power from an outside is received and transmitted between the handle unit and the ultrasonic vibration element unit.

    Abstract: A grasping treatment instrument includes a sheath, a first grasping piece provided at a distal end of the sheath, a second grasping piece and a movable member. The second grasping piece is connected to the sheath at a first rotation axis perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the sheath. The movable member is connected to the second grasping piece at the second rotation axis parallel to the first rotation axis, and is configured to move along the longitudinal axis.
