First and second data catalogs each indicate sensing data attributes. The first and second data catalogs each include a first word indicating an observation object of a sensor that generated sensing data and a second word indicating an observation characteristic of the sensor. A score calculation unit includes a first weight determination part, a second weight determination part, and a score calculation part. The first weight determination part determines a first weight value relating to the observation object, based on the relationship between the first words included in the first and second data catalogs. The second weight determination part determines a second weight value relating to the observation characteristic, based on the relationship between the second words included in the first and second data catalogs. The score calculation part calculates a score relating to the coincidence of the first and second data catalogs, using the first and second weight values.

An instruction device includes: an acquiring unit configured to acquire provided metadata, which is attribute information relating to one or more attributes of sensing data, the provided metadata having one or more hierarchy levels that contain information shared by a plurality of sensors; an acquiring unit configured to acquire usable metadata, which is attribute information relating to one or more attributes of an application; a matching unit configured to perform matching between the provided metadata and the usable metadata for each hierarchy level, calculate, for each hierarchy level, an inter-level matching degree that indicates a degree of matching in the hierarchy level, and extract a sensor capable of providing the sensing data that satisfies a request of the application, based on an overall matching degree; and an instruction unit configured to transmit a data flow control instruction that specifies the application and the extracted sensor.

A module transmits send information to be processed by an information processing apparatus along a transmission path on which the information processing apparatus is present. When the send information is sent in accordance with predetermined sending parameters, if a sending failure in which a sending completion state of the send information cannot be confirmed occurs, a part or all of the sending parameters used for sending of the send information with respect to which the sending failure has occurred are changed, and the send information is resent in accordance with the sending parameters after the changing. Then, the predetermined sending parameter changed between the occurrence of the sending failure and confirmation of the sending completion state of the resent send information, and resend result information related to a send result corresponding to the changed predetermined sending parameter are acquired and sent toward a predetermined processing apparatus.

A communication unit acquires sensor-side metadata, which is information relating to a sensor, and application-side metadata, which is information relating to an application. A comparison unit extracts a sensor that can provide the sensing data through matching between the sensor-side metadata and the application-side metadata, and a notification unit transmits, based on a result of the extraction, a data flow control command to a sensor management device. The sensor-side metadata and the application-side metadata contain data that can be handled as dynamic data.

In a network system, an own subsystem recognition unit is provided in each of subsystems, and holds a state and a function of the own subsystem. A shared information communication unit acquires states and functions of the subsystems. An objective acceptance unit accepts a setting of a target state. A shared storage unit stores knowledge regarding a combination structure of functions of the respective subsystems necessary for realizing the target state. A structure setting unit automatically sets a combination structure of functions of the respective subsystems, including determining whether the function of each of the subsystems is to be activated, based on the target state, states and functions of the subsystems, and the knowledge regarding a combination structure. A role determination unit determines functions to be executed by the respective subsystems based on the automatically set combination structure. A role notification unit notifies the subsystems of the determined respective functions.

A sensor management unit transmits first sensing data obtained by a first sensor monitoring a target to an external device external to the sensor management unit. The sensor management unit includes a processor, and a memory storing a program. The memory stores obtaining condition information that defines obtaining conditions for obtaining a plurality of candidate items of metadata to be associated with the first sensing data. The program causes the processor to implement obtaining at least one of the candidate items of metadata in accordance with the obtaining conditions and transmitting, to the external device, the obtained first sensing data and the obtained metadata in a manner associated with each other.

A sensor module that transmits at a predetermined transmission interval, via a network, data obtained by measurement to an externally installed information processing device sets, together with a nearby sensor module, a predetermined module group in which a plurality of sensor modules for transmitting measurement data according to data processing in the information processing device are put together. Then, together with the nearby sensor modules, one sensor module among the predetermined module group is set as a reference sensor module for which a transmission interval is maintained at a predetermined transmission interval, and transmission intervals of measurement data of sensor modules other than the reference sensor module are changed to a prolonged transmission interval that is longer than the predetermined transmission interval. With this, a reduction in power consumption is realized as much as possible in the sensor module that measures environmental parameters and transmits to the information processing device.
