Abstract: A light-emitting device 1 includes: a solid-state light-emitting element 10 that radiates a laser beam L; and a wavelength converter 50 including a plurality of types of phosphors which receive the laser beam L and radiate light. The phosphors 50 included in the wavelength converter are substantially composed of a Ce3+-activated phosphor. Then, output light of the light-emitting device 1 has a light component across a wavelength range of at least 420 nm or more and less than 700 nm. The light-emitting device 1 is capable of radiating light with high color rendering properties over a wide wavelength range.

Abstract: A light emitting device includes a first wavelength converter that contains a first phosphor that absorbs at least part of primary light radiated by a radiation source and converts the primary light absorbed into secondary light, and a second wavelength converter that contains a second phosphor that absorbs at least part of the secondary light and converts the secondary light absorbed into tertiary light. The lifetime of fluorescence emitted from the second phosphor is longer than the lifetime of fluorescence emitted from the first phosphor, and the light density of the secondary light, with which the second wavelength converter is irradiated, is lower than the light density of the primary light, with which the first wavelength converter is irradiated.

Abstract: A light emitting device includes a light source that emits a primary light having a light energy density exceeding 0.5W/mm2, and a first phosphor that absorbs the primary light to convert the primary light into a first wavelength-converted light having a wavelength longer than that of the primary light. The first phosphor includes a compound serving as a host, the compound being a simple oxide including one kind of metal element or a composite oxide including a plurality of different kinds of the simple oxide as an end member. When an energy conversion value at a peak wavelength of the primary light is E1 electron volts and an energy conversion value at a fluorescence peak wavelength of the first wavelength-converted light is E2 electron volts, a bandgap energy of a crystal of the simple oxide is larger than a sum of the E1 electron volts and the E2 electron volts.

Abstract: A light emitting device includes a first wavelength converter that converts the primary light into a first wavelength-converted light; and a second wavelength converter that converts the primary light into a second wavelength-converted light. The light emitting device emits a first output light including the first wavelength-converted light and a second output light including the second wavelength-converted light alternately in time.

Abstract: A wavelength converter includes a first phosphor activated with Cr3+; and a second phosphor activated with at least one ion of Ce3+ or Eu2+. A fluorescence spectrum of a fluorescence emitted by the second phosphor has a peak where a fluorescence intensity shows a maximum value in a wavelength range of 500 nm or more to less than 580 nm. The wavelength converter emits a fluorescence having a light component over an entire range of 500 nm or more to less than 580 nm. The wavelength converter emits a light having a spectrum in which a ratio of a minimum light emission intensity to a maximum light emission intensity is 40% or less in a wavelength range of 550 nm or more to 700 nm or less.

The bottom wall of the housing is irradiated with the laser light emitted from the laser light source, and the first phosphor is excited by diffused light of the laser light diffused by the bottom wall. With such a configuration, the light emitting device (A) improves color uniformity and chromaticity flexibility while increasing power density of output light.
