    摘要: Prepare a polyisocyanurate insulating foam that achieves a Class A rating in ASTM E108-05 testing with either EPDM or TPO membranes at a slope of 1.27 centimeters and achieves at least a grade 2 designation in ASTM method C-1289 compressive strength testing with a foamable mixture containing (a) 100 parts by weight polyol; (b) 2-9 parts by weight potassium and/or sodium carboxylate salts; (c) 0.05-0.45 parts by weight of one or more quaternary amine; (d) zero to 0.4 parts by weight of an additional catalyst selected from secondary amine, tertiary amine, tin and/or iron catalyst; (e) optionally a solvent; (f) an isocyanate containing compound; and (g) a blowing agent; wherein the molar ratio of (b) to (c) is in a range of 17:1 to 100:1.

    摘要: A method for preparing novel poly(aryl ether)-(poly aryl carbonate) block copolymers by the decarboxylation of copolycarbonates prepared by the condensation of two different aromatic dihydroxy compounds and a carbonate precursor such as phosgene. At least one of the aromatic diols must have at least one electron-withdrawing group located in a position ortho or para to at least one of its hydroxy groups and at least one of the diols must not have any electron-withdrawing groups in a position ortho or para to either of its hydroxy groups. The method is particularly effective in making crystalline block copolymers.

    摘要: A structure can be prepared comprising a substrate, such as a wall, ceiling or floor, and, as a non-covered layer applied thereon, a spray polyurethane foam. The foam formulation used to prepare the spray polyurethane foam includes a polyol component having a functionality equal to or greater than 2.1, an isocyanate component having a functionality equal to or greater than 2.7, an aromatic bromine-containing flame retardant agent, a phosphorus-containing flame retardant agent and a blowing agent. The structure containing the spray polyurethane foam is capable of passing the International Code Council Evaluation Service's Acceptance Criteria 377 Appendix X test without covering the spray polyurethane foam or coating the spray polyurethane foam with an intumescing coating, and therefore can be particularly useful in attics, crawl spaces, and other areas in which the foam would be exposed.
