Abstract:
Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes transmitting, from a first communication device, a relay search query to a plurality of relay candidates; receiving a relay search query response indicating a relay that provides at least a threshold device-to-relay-to-device (DRD) capacity for communications between the first communication device and a second communication device; and communicating with the second communication device through the indicated relay based at least in part on the relay search query response.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives one or more D2D broadcasts in a set of subchannels of a channel. In addition, the apparatus broadcasts in at least one subchannel of the channel information indicating a subset of the set of subchannels. The one or more D2D broadcasts may include a first set of broadcasts that includes control information and a second set of broadcasts that includes data traffic. The broadcasted information may be control information. The apparatus may determine a signal strength of each of the one or more D2D broadcasts received in the set of subchannels. The broadcasted information may further include the determined signal strength for each subchannel in the subset of the set of subchannels.

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. Device-to-device (D2D) communications may benefit from the use of a relay facilitating communications between mobile devices. Relays which are not power-limited, such as if the relay is connected to a power grid, may continuously monitor the communication medium. A relay may monitor D2D communications and determine a D2D pair for which to attempt to facilitate communications. The relay may identify a first message from a first mobile device to a second mobile device, and may transmit a second message to the second mobile device. The second message may be transmitted using the same resources as the first message, and may include at least a portion of the first message. The relay may receive a response from the second mobile device and may transmit information about the relay to the second device before facilitating communications between the D2D pair of mobile devices.
Abstract:
Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes estimating a pathloss from each of a plurality of relay candidates to a first communication device to generate a first capacity estimate for the first communication device for each of the plurality of relay candidates; receiving at the first communication device, from a second communication device, a second capacity estimate for the second communication device for each of the plurality of relay candidates; and selecting a relay from the plurality of relay candidates for relaying communications between the first communication device and the second communication device based at least in part on each first capacity estimate for the first communication device and each second capacity estimate for the second communication device.

Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus (e.g., first transmitter) determines a transmission power of each of a plurality of neighboring transmitters respectively transmitting on a plurality of subchannels in a bandwidth, detects a pathloss to each of the plurality of neighboring transmitters respectively transmitting on the plurality of subchannels, and selects one of the plurality of subchannels for transmitting a signal based on the determined transmission power on each of the plurality of subchannels and the detected pathloss to each of the plurality of neighboring transmitters respectively transmitting on the plurality of subchannels.
