    摘要: A unitary resonator assembly for use in dielectric resonator filters and multiplexers. The unitary resonator assembly comprises a plurality of resonators joined by bridges, where the resonators and bridges are all constructed from a single piece of a dielectric material. The unitary resonator assemblies may be used in conjunction with unitary mounting structures that support a unitary resonator assembly in a filter or multiplexer. Also disclosed are 2-pole, 4-pole, and triplet filters implementing a unitary resonator assembly in conjunction with a unitary mounting structure, and a diplexer implementing a unitary resonator assembly in conjunction with a unitary mounting structure.

    摘要: Novel quadruple-mode, dual-mode, and dual-band filters as well multiplexers are presented. A cylindrical dielectric resonator sized appropriately in terms of its diameter D and length L will operate as a quadruple-mode resonator, offering significant size reduction for dielectric resonator filter applications. This is achieved by having two mode pairs of the structure resonate at the same frequency. Single-cavity, quad-mode filters and higher order 4n-pole filters are realizable using this quad-mode cylindrical resonator. The structure of the quad-mode cylinder can be simplified by cutting lengthwise along its central axis to produce a half-cut cylinder suitable for operation in either a dual-mode or a dual-band. Dual-mode, 2n-pole filters are realizable using this half-cut cylinder. Dual-band filters and diplexers are further realizable using the half-cut structure and full cylinder by carrying separate frequency bands on different resonant modes of the structure. These diplexers greatly reduce size and mass of many-channel multiplexers at the system level, as each two channels are overloaded in one physical branch. Full control of center frequencies of resonances, and input and inter-resonator couplings are achievable, allowing realization of microwave filters with different bandwidth, frequency, and Return Loss specifications, as well as advanced filtering functions with prescribed transmission zeros. Spurious performance of the half-cut cylinder can also be improved by cutting one or more through-way slots between opposite surfaces. Size and mass reduction achieved by using the full and half-cut resonators described, provide various levels of size reduction in microwave systems, both filter level, and multiplexer level.

    摘要: A dual-mode filter has a dielectric resonator in each cavity, with each resonator containing one or more apertures. The aperture or apertures are located to shift a resonance frequency of a spurious mode to a higher frequency range distance from a principal mode. The principal mode can be an HEH.sub.11 mode and the spurious mode can be an HEE.sub.11 mode or vice-versa. The dielectric resonators can be a solid block or two or more discs that are laminated to one another. Previous dual-mode filters cannot attain the results required for current satellite systems.

    摘要: A high power high temperature superconductive circuit for use in various microwave devices including filters, dielectric resonator filters, multiplexers, transmission lines, delay lines, hybrids and beam-forming networks has thin gold films deposited either on a substrate or on top of the high temperature superconductive film. Alternatively, other metal films can be used or a plurality of dielectric films can be used or a dielectric constant gradient substrate can be used. The use of these materials in a part or parts of a microwave circuit reduces the current density in those parts compared to the level of current density if only high temperature superconductive film is used. This increases the power handling capability of the circuit.

    摘要: Microwave bandpass filters contain dielectric resonators mounted in dielectric blocks, which are in turn mounted in cavities. There can be more than one dielectric resonator per cavity. Significant size reduction has been achieved over prior art filters. The filters can be operated at cryogenic temperatures and since the results attainable at cryogenic temperatures are repeatable, the filters can be tuned at cryogenic temperatures and returned to room temperature before being returned to cryogenic temperatures for operating purposes. When operated at cryogenic temperatures, the filters contain shorting plates having high temperature superconducting material thereon. The filters can be constructed with various configurations and can be operated in either a single mode or a dual-mode. Previous single mode or dual-mode dielectric resonator filters are larger in size and mass than the filters of the present application.

When the wearable accessory is worn by the human subject such that the subject provides a skin tissue sample to the accessory, the presence or concentration of ethanol and other compounds may be determined from the vapour associated with the tissue sample.

    摘要: A vibration-based power generator has a variable stiffness oscillator connected to a base. The oscillator comprises an inertial mass moving relative to the base in response to vibrations. The oscillator has a neutral position corresponding to a position of the oscillator when no vibrations are transmitted to the base. The oscillator has a first position where the mass is at a first distance and a second position where the inertial mass is at a second distance from a position of the mass when the oscillator is in neutral position. The second distance is greater than the first distance. A stiffness of the oscillator at the second position is greater than a stiffness of the oscillator at the first position. A transducer generating electric power in response to movement of the inertial mass is associated with the oscillator. A method of optimizing a vibration-based power generator is also presented.
