Abstract:
The invention relates to crosslinked polymerizates which are capable of absorbing, which are based on partially neutralized, monoethylenically unsaturated monomers that carry acidic groups, which exhibit improved properties, in particular, with regard to their ability to transport liquids when in a swollen state, and which have been subsequently crosslinked on the surface thereof with a combination consisting of an organic crosslinker compound, with the exception of polyols, and of a cation provided in the form of a salt in an aqueous solution.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for quantifying the composition of a product, including: irradiating the product with a radiation source in the near infrared range; receiving radiation which is reflected by or transmitted through the product; providing an output signal corresponding to the intensity of the radiation received at a number of different wavelengths; and determining whether or not the product lies within predetermined integrity criteria on the basis of the output signal using a mathematical method. The moving product contains a solution or homogeneous dispersion and the content of at least one substance contained in the dispersion or solution is quantitatively determined on the basis of the output signal. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out this method.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns highly swellable absorption mediums with a reduced caking tendency at high humidity and/or high temperatures, wherein a swellable polymer is coated with a non-ionic, nitrogen-containing surfactant and optionally a Lewis acid and then reacted by heating.

Abstract:
The tablets press according to the invention comprises an integral measuring device for the determination of the quantitative content of at least one substance in a tablet, comprising: at least one radiation source, which emits radiation in the near infrared range, for the irradiation of the tablet, a radiation receiving device contained in a measuring head, which receives the radiation reflected by the tablet, a spectrometer for receiving the radiation from the radiation receiving device and for supplying an output signal according to the intensity of the received radiation at a number of different wavelengths and a device for the quantitative determination of the content of at least one substance contained in the tablet and/or for the determination of the ratios of all or some of the contained components based on the output signal, wherein the measuring device is suitable for measuring each individual pressed tablet, and the trigger times of the measurements are correlated with the conveying speed of the tablets press.
Abstract:
The invention relates to absorbent polymers based on optionally partially neutralised, monoethylenically unsaturated, acid group-carrying monomers. The surfaces of said polymers are re-cross-linked. The inventive polymers also have cyclodextrines and/or cyclodextrine derivatives which are covalently and/or ionically bonded and/or included therein.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a powdery, water-insoluble, cross-linked resin which absorbs aqueous or serous liquids as well as blood and is composed of a) 55 to 99.9%-wt. polymerized, unsaturated, polymerizable, acid-groups-containing monomers which are neutralized to the extent of at least 25 mol-%, b) 0 to 40%-wt. polymerized, unsaturated monomers copolymerizable with a), c) 0.1 to 5.0%-wt. of a cross-linking agent, and d) 0 to 30%-wt. of a water-soluble polymer, whereby the weight amounts a) to d) relate to anhydrous polymer. The polymer is characterized by the fact that the resin powder has been coated with 0.1 to 5%-wt. of an alkylene carbonate, relative to resin powder, and heated to a temperature of 150.degree. to 300.degree. C. The present invention further relates to a method of producing said polymer and to the use thereof in sanitary articles, such as diapers and the like, and in absorbent constructions consisting of hydrophilic fibers and absorbing resin.
