Abstract:
An absorbent article having a liquid pervious topsheet wherein at least a portion of the topsheet has been treated to become hydrophobic; a backsheet joined to said topsheet; an absorbent core disposed between said topsheet and said backsheet, said absorbent core having an inner surface oriented toward the skin of the wearer when said absorbent article is being worn and an outer surface oriented toward the garment of the wearer when said absorbent article is being worn; and a surfactant applied to at least a portion of said outer surface of said topsheet wherein the topsheet has been treated hydrophobic and wherein the hydrophilic surfactant is added to the areas treated hydrophobic.
Abstract:
A water permeability-imparting agent containing an alkylene oxide adduct (A) of a polyvalent active hydrogen compound represented by Formula (1): R—[O(A1O)m—(CH2CH2O)n—H]1 (1) wherein R represents a residue, after removal of all active hydrogen, of the polyvalent active hydrogen compound; A1O represents a C2 to C4 alkyleneoxy group; m represents an average addition mole number of A1O and is a number of 4 to 50; n represents an average addition mole number of CH2CH2O; and 1 represents a valence and is an integer of 3 to 6, and an average addition mole number ratio between A1O and CH2CH2O in Formula (1), n/m, is 0 to 0.5.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a haemostatic material comprising a carrier layer and a material for wound contact comprising at least one haemostat in particulate, granular, powder, flake or short fibrous form. Such a haemostatic material is useful, for example, in reducing or stopping bleeding of a physiological target site in a person or animal, and can also be used to stem bleeding during medical procedures.
Abstract:
A modified kraft pulp fiber with unique properties is provided. The modified fiber can be a modified bleached kraft fiber that is almost indistinguishable from its conventional counterpart, except that it has a low degree of polymerization (DP). Methods for making the modified fiber and products made from it are also provided. The method can be a one step acidic, iron catalyzed peroxide treatment process that can be incorporated into a single stage of a multi-stage bleaching process. The products can be chemical cellulose feedstocks, microcrystalline cellulose feedstocks, fluff pulps and products made from them.
Abstract:
Transdermal or topical plasters containing active ingredient are provided that include a non-occlusive back layer, a matrix formed from of one or more polymer layers having at least one pharmaceutical active ingredient in one or more of the layers, in which the structure-forming base polymers of the layer(s) are non-occlusive or only slightly occlusive and a second polymer that has a low water-vapor permeability and that is immiscible or only very slightly miscible with the base polymer is dispersed in at least one of the polymer layers.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a particulate superabsorbent polymer composition having fast absorption and a method of making the particulate superabsorbent polymer comprising a monomer solution comprising a foaming agent and a mixture of a lipophile surfactant and a polyethoxylated hydrophilic surfactant wherein the particulate superabsorbent polymer composition has a mean particle size distribution of from 300 to 500 μm and a vortex time of 30 to 60 seconds. The present invention further includes particulate superabsorbent polymer compositions surface treated with other components. The present invention further includes absorbent cores and articles including the particulate superabsorbent polymer compositions.
Abstract:
An object of the present disclosure is to provide an absorbent article without a sticky feel on the top sheet and with a smooth top sheet, even after highly viscous menstrual blood has been absorbed. The absorbent article of the present disclosure is as follows. An absorbent article comprising a liquid-permeable top sheet, a liquid-impermeable back sheet and an absorbent body between the liquid-permeable top sheet and liquid-impermeable back sheet, wherein the liquid-permeable top sheet comprises a blood modifying agent with an IOB of 0.00-0.60, a melting point of no higher than 45° C., a water solubility of 0.00-0.05 g in 100 g of water at 25° C., and a weight-average molecular weight of no greater than 1,000.
Abstract:
Compositions containing a surface active agent and a sub-lethal amount of an antimicrobial agent and methods for using such compositions are provided herein.
