摘要: This invention relates to the injection moldable and extrusion type electrically conductive polymeric blend compositions having a viscosity at 200.degree. C. at 0.73 sec.sup.-1 of less than about 8.times.10.sup.5 poises. The compositions used for elastomeric articles include a neutralized sulfonated polymer; graphite fiber at a concentration of about 1 to about 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of neutralized sulfonated polymer; and a preferential plasticizer at about less than 60 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the neutralized sulfonated polymer. The composition may also optionally include fillers, oils and other additives. These blend compositions can be readily processed due to their superior rheological properties on conventional plastic fabrication equipment, especially on low and high pressure injection molding or extrusion equipment into electrically conductive articles having excellent physical and electrical properties.

摘要: The present invention relates to polymeric compositions formed from sulfonated co- or terpolymers which are formed by a free radical co- or terpolymerization process, wherein the resultant co- or terpolymers have an Mn of about 5,000 to 200,000 and these co- or terpolymers have at least about 0.5 weight percent of chemically combined sulfur therein. The free radical co- or terpolymerization process of the instant invention can be generally described as a free radical emulsion polymerization of at least one conjugated diene or a mixture of styrene and butadiene with a sulfonate monomer which is water soluble, at a temperature sufficient to cause polymerization, wherein the initiator is preferably based on a peroxide initiator accelerated by a reducing agent, and suitable surfactants are employed. Upon completion of the free radical polymerization, the resultant latex is coagulated and the water insoluble polymer is recovered.

摘要: This invention is an improved method and device for treating varicose veins 200 or the greater saphenous vein 202. The method comprises the use of infrared laser radiation in the region of 1.2 to 2.2 um in a manner from inside the vessel 200 or 202 such that the endothelial cells of the vessel wall 704 are damaged and collagen fibers in the vessel wall 704 are heated to the point where they permanently contract, the vessel 200 or 202 is occluded and ultimately resorbed. The device includes a laser 102 delivered via a fiber optic catheter 300 that may have frosted or diffusing fiber tips 308, or that may be provided with a protective spacer. A motorized pull back device 104 may be used, and a thermal sensor 600 may be used to help control the power required to maintain the proper treatment temperature.

摘要: The present invention is directed to golf ball cover compositions containing blends of high or low carboxylic acid based copolymers and ethylene copolymers such as ethylene alkyl acrylates. The carboxylic acid groups of the blends are neutralized with metal cations. Golf balls produced with the cover molded thereon exhibit desired properties of distance and high coefficient of restitution without substantially sacrificing and/or improving characteristics like playability and durability when compared to existing covers comprising ionomeric resin blends.

摘要: A conductive elastomeric foam composite is presented, comprising an elastomer foam and polypyrrole, thiophene, or aniline and derivatives thereof. The foam is manufactured by first diffusing an oxidant into the dense polymer phase of a solvent-swollen foam and then diffusing pyrrole or pyrrole derivative vapor or solution into the dried foam, resulting in an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole at the oxidant site. Only about 5 wt % of conductive polymer is required for observing an insulator to conductor transition. The conductivity of the composite foam can be effectively controlled between 10.sup.-7 and 10.sup.-1 S/cm by varying either the amount of oxidant used and/or the copolymer composition.
