    摘要: In the process of die-cutting bag stacks to form individual bag tops, die-cut handle apertures, or other mounting apertures, die blade configurations forming the vent lines of an array of vent apertures are also used to bond the outer surfaces of the front and rear bag walls together. The die-cutting operation selectively bonds the successive front and rear bag walls together at or adjacent the cut edges of the vent lines, thereby allowing the bags in a bag stack to subsequently self-open when dispensed.

    摘要: Ventilation slits are placed in a plastic bag wall for opening in response to tension passing through the bag wall as the bag is carried. A conventional bag has a front bag wall, with the front bag wall having a top, a bottom, and two parallel side edges. The rear bag wall is of identical construction. The bag is conventionally sealed at the sides and bottom and typically carried from the top. The bag is improved by providing at least one bag wall with a plurality of vent apertures. In the preferred embodiment, each vent aperture has a first slit and a second slit with the slits inclined both to one another and with respect to the edges of the bag wall. Preferably, the vent apertures defined by the inclined slits overlying one another in parallel spaced apart relation. When the plastic bag is loaded at the bottom and carried from the top, stress in the bag wall or passes around the slits, causing the slits to open as vent apertures responsive to the stress. While inclined slits are preferred, embodiments are shown with an array of horizontally disposed slits for the ventilation, these slits preferably being in rows and columns.

    摘要: A method for producing a serialized bundle of thermoplastic T-shirt grocery bags which serially open upon being dispensed. Specifically, a bag being removed from the serialized bundle of thermoplastic T-shirt grocery bags mounted on a dispensing rack automatically opens an immediately following and trailing bag. The bags of the serialized bundle are coextruded to have at least two layers, an inside layer having a low coefficient of friction and an outside layer having a high coefficient of friction. A relatively low coefficient of friction between two inside layers allows each bag to easily open; a relatively high coefficient of friction between the outside layers allows a leading bag to entrain a trailing bag. Entraining structures are provided into and between the respective bags which permit the bags to be keyed together at their high friction outside layers and separate at their low friction inside layers. These entraining structures may preferably include special flaps which overlie one another on a dispensing rod. A tab constraining each front wall to a wicket is either pre-severed or slit during the cut out operation to easily detach from the wicket so as to not overcome a self opening force which prevents the bags from opening automatically.

    摘要: A process of serially dispensing and opening a bag from a bundle of bags includes providing a bundle of bags having at least a leading bag and a plurality of trailing bags. Tabs at the top of the bags fasten to a support and sever under a first force. A fastening adjacent the top of the rear bag wall of a leading bag joins to the top of the front bag wall of a trailing bag, this fastening severing under a second force. Pulling on the front bag wall of the leading bag to sever the front support tab of the leading bag from the support; continued pulling on the front bag wall of the leading bag severs the rear support tab of the leading bag. The front support tab of the trailing bag from the support is also severed. The rear support tab of the leading bag pulls on the front support tab of the trailing bag to sever both the rear support tab of the leading bag and the front support tab of the trailing bag from the support. Further continuing pulling on the front bag wall of the leading bag causes severing of the first force of the front support tab of the trailing bag. Thereafter, the second force fastening the rear bag wall of the leading bag to the front bag wall of the trailing bag is exceeded. This second force causes separation of the leading bag from the trailing bag in a bag open disposition.

    摘要: The present invention relates to thermoplastic bags which are characterized by two perforated tabs symetrically attached to the front and back walls at the mouth of the bag. Using a sculptured bag or any of several thermoplastic bag structures currently in use (handled or flush-cut; gussetted or flat), the configuration of the two tabs is such that it enables the user to easily open and load the bag while the mouth remains open and the bag in place. Additionally, the placement of the two tabs permits easy loading of a unitary pack on dispensing holders, including armless stands, resulting in more efficient use of time and space by retail users. The placement and scallop design of the tab perforations create stress transfer tips which distribute stress away from creases and slit-seals at the open mouth, preventing tearing or zippering at the mouth of the bag where stress concentration is most likely and permitting greater use of slit-seals and corresponding reduced costs of manufacture.

A first seam seals the two parallel side edges together at the same major surface with the side edges disposed inwardly of the tube to form the sheet of plastic bag material into a tube with internal flap portions extending interiorly of the tube. At least one seal across the tube is provided for forming at least a three-sided bag structure (and preferably two seals across the tube for forming a closed four-sided bag structure) whereby pressure in the interior of the bag acts against the internal flap portions disposed inwardly of the tube to enhance the sealing of the seam. The bag is filled at an opening defined along the opposite side edges of the seam facing inwardly of the tube.

    摘要: A process of cold sealing two layers of plastic film material together is used as part of the structural element of a plastic bag made from plastic film. The bag has a closed bottom, a continuous closed periphery, and an open top. The improvement provides the bag with a cold seal, which cold seal does not form a part of the closed bottom and continuous closed periphery of the bag. In the improved process, it is required that the first and second plastic films of the bag be confronted to one another in a disposition for sealing. Compression dies are provided on at least one side of the juxtaposed first and second plastic films, the compression dies are provided with the size and shape of the cold seal desired. Impressing of the compression dies across the juxtaposed first and second plastic films occurs. This impressing is at a temperature and pressure sufficient to fuse the first and second plastic films together. However, the impressing has insufficient temperature and pressure to permanently fuse the first and second plastic films together so that the films when separated at the cold seal each retain structural integrity. Embodiments are set forth where the cold seal is used as a structural element to square out square bottom bags. Specifically, the cold seal is provided with at least a linear disposition which imparts to the cold seal the predisposition to fold or hinge at the boundary to cause opening to the square bottom shape.

    摘要: In a packet containing a plurality of dual tab merchandising bags, each bag includes a front panel, a rear panel, each side of said bag between the front and rear panels including, a front gusset folded from the front panel, a rear gusset folded from the rear panel, the front and rear gussets joined at a common gusset fold to form an endless tube of bag material around the periphery of said bag. The bags are sealed and severed at the bottom and open and severed at the top, and collapsed and folded one on another so that said gusset sides are folded upon themselves and collapsed under and between the bag front and rear panels. Handle holes are provided centrally of said front and rear panels adjacent said open top of the bag. Tabs are adjacent the sides of the bags at the top of the bag, the tabs having a first portion overlying the gussets and a second portion overlying the central portion of the bag between the gussets, these tabs fused together to form said packet of bags. The tabs are formed from side and center projections, the side projections defined over the front panel, the front gusset, the rear gusset and the rear panel. The center projections are defined over the front panel and the rear panel. Each projections is formed by paired cuts separating the body of the bag from tabs, the cuts being arcuate and spaced apart one from another at their respective ends to form between the tabs and the body of the bag severed borders that point away from the body of the bag and to or toward the material of the tab. The cuts define there between a small and unsevered section of bag material left in place to form the material bridge which joins the body of the bag to the tab until the bag is severed.
