Abstract:
A supressing pulse synthesizer for supplying the proper average number of nchronization pulses from a reproduced reference signal to an analog to digital converter utilized to convert analog data present on a magnetic tape to digital data.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an improved method of preparing ABC block polymers, wherein A is .alpha.-methylstyrene, B is a conjugated diene, and C is styrene or a substituted styrene.
Abstract:
A hydrostatic bearing support system is provided which comprises a bearing housing having a polygonally configured outer surface which defines at least three symmetrically disposed working faces and a plurality of pressure plates, each of which is disposed relatively opposite a corresponding working face and spaced therefrom to define a gap therebetween. A hydrostatic support film is created in the gap for supporting the housing in spaced relationship to the pressure plates.
Abstract:
A system and method for interactive design of user manipulable graphic elements. A computer has display and stored tasks wherein the appearance of graphic elements and methods for their manipulation are defined. Each graphic element is defined by at least one figure specification, one mask specification and one map specification. An interactive display editor program defines specifications of said graphic elements. An interactive program editor program defines programming data and methods associated with said graphic elements. A display program uses the figure, map and mask specifications for assembling graphic elements upon the display and enabling user manipulation of said graphic elements.
Abstract:
It has been determined that 1,2,3-trialkoxybenzenes and 1,2,4-trialkoxybenzenes can be utilized in order to increase the vinyl content of polydienes which are prepared utilizing lithium catalyst systems. For instance, it has been determined that 1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene and 1,2,4-trimethoxybenzene are very strong modifiers for utilization in such polymerizations. The utilization of the trialkoxybenzene modifiers of the present invention is highly advantageous because they promote fast polymerization rates and can be used to produce polymers having high vinyl contents.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a method of preparing a five-membered block polymer, said block polymer exhibiting more superior properties than would be expected from copolymers made from similar blocks.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for reversing fixation-induced cross-linking in tissue specimens that have been preserved for histological examination. The method involves placing the fixed tissue in a liquid under elevated temperature and pressure conditions that are sufficient to reverse the fixation-induced cross-linking, restore antigenicity to proteins, and permit improved molecular and proteomic analysis of the preserved tissue specimen. Methods are also disclosed for processing tissues for histological examination under elevated pressure conditions that enhance the perfusion of liquid reagents into the tissue and reduce overall processing times.
Abstract:
An article, method, and kit for holding an object in place on a wall that include a jig with a support member and a platform member that is coupled to, and extends perpendicularly from, the support member. The support member has a top end including a portion adapted to be positioned behind a wall-facing surface of an object placed upon the platform member and an opening that is adapted to removably engage a coupling device on or in a wall such that the support member is disposed in a substantially vertical hanging position upon the wall. The jig may further include a brace member that forms a triangle by connecting a lower side of the platform member to the support member.
