摘要: High temperature imaging devices are disclosed. In one embodiment, the imaging device comprises an array of photosensitive elements fabricated on an insulator substrate, and an information storage component coupled to the array. The information storage component stores data representing one or more light patterns detected by the array. The light patterns may be images or spectral patterns. The insulator substrate may be a sapphire or spinel substrate. Alternatively, the substrate may be silicon carbide or an insulated silicon substrate. In at least some embodiments, a processor is integrated on the same substrate as the array.

摘要: An apparatus and method for removing a frangible rupture disc or other frangible device from a wellbore casing. The casing has a special casing section defining a plurality of holes therethrough. Rupturable glass ceramic discs or inserts are disposed in the holes and retained therein. The glass ceramic discs or inserts are adapted to withstand fluid differential pressure normally present in the wellbore but are rupturable in response to impingement by a pressure wave thereon. The pressure wave is provided by a pressure wave generating device positionable in the casing string adjacent to the holes in the special casing section. The pressure generative device may generate a pressure pulse or an acoustical wave. Methods of perforating a well casing using a pressure pulse or an acoustical wave are also disclosed.

摘要: A fluidic oscillator can include a fluid switch, at least two fluid paths from the fluid switch, and a sensor which measures a frequency of fluctuations in flow through the fluidic oscillator. A method of measuring a flow rate of a fluid can include flowing the fluid through a fluidic oscillator, a majority of the fluid flowing alternately via at least two fluid paths from a fluid switch of the fluidic oscillator, and a sensor detecting a frequency of the flow alternating between the fluid paths. Another fluidic oscillator can include a fluid input, at least two fluid paths from the fluid input to respective fluid outputs, whereby a majority of fluid which flows through the fluidic oscillator flows alternately via the fluid paths, and a sensor which detects pressure fluctuations due to the flow alternating between the fluid paths.

摘要: Methods of controlling a downhole tool in a well are disclosed wherein pressure change signals are introduced into a column of fluid standing in the well. The command signal includes at least one high level pressure change applied to the column of fluid. The high level pressure change includes a change from a first value to a second value, with the second value being at least about 1,000 psi above hydrostatic pressure of the column of fluid in the well, and with pressure being maintained at the second value for an interval of time corresponding to information stored in a control system of the downhole valve. A number of suitable command signal formats are disclosed, particularly including pressure drop signals.

摘要: The present invention provides a system for determining downhole conditions including a time domain reflectometer (172) that is operable to generate a transmission signal and receive a reflected signal. A tubular (192) is positioned downhole in a downhole medium (214, 216, 218, 220, 222) and a waveguide (186), which is in electrical communication with the time domain reflectometer (172), is operably contacting the downhole (214, 216, 218, 220, 222). The waveguide (186) is operable to propagate the transmission signal and operable to propagate the reflected signal that is generated responsive to an electromagnetic property of the downhole medium (214, 216, 218, 220, 222).
