This scheme allows better handling by receiving devices such as embedded devices (i.e. LCD remote controls), because a more efficient reception and storage of transmitted data is possible. In particular, the receiving device can read, parse and store the downloaded EPG data on the fly as it is being received (it can start reading, parsing and storing before the complete reception of data id finished). At any time when the device would have to stop storing EPG data into persistent storage, (almost) all of the data that was stored can actually be used.

A method of determining a location of an event of interest by processing signals from a satellite positioning system. The method comprises receiving recorded blocks of data samples of a satellite broadcast including blocks recorded at the approximate location of the event of interest, each block including one or more timestamps generated within a first portable device at which the samples were recorded; receiving a time of occurrence of the event recorded independently of the samples; comparing the timestamps and the time of occurrence to identify at least one block corresponding to the event; and processing the data samples of the identified at least one block to derive position information approximating the location of the event.

In order to install the encoded software package (PACK.ENC) at the user station (US) the method further includes the step of providing, either together with the encoded software package (PACK.ENC) or separately, a basis software package (BASIS) for combined decoding and compiling of the encoded software package (PACK.ENC). The basis software package (BASIS) includes software to perform the combined decoding and compiling thereby generating a compiled software package (PACK.COMP).

The shape and recovery ratios of the cover pieces are chosen such that the amount of recovery does not differ by more than 20% on either side of the join line. This avoids wrinkling.
