The drum has at least one suction opening formed in the perimeter surface for seizing the next available unit load from the stack at the fetching position and for holding the unit load to the drum perimeter surface as the drum rotates to an ejection position. A conveyor means is disposed adjacent the ejection position for receiving the separated unit load from the drum and for transporting the unit load away. The apparatus is also suitable for separating and transferring unpackaged newspapers, periodicals, other publications and the like.

A transfer apparatus for transferring items from a first conveying device to moving assigned item carriers carried on a second conveying device is disclosed. The item carriers and the second conveying device move in a second transporting direction which is opposite to a first transporting direction of the first conveying device. The transfer apparatus includes a transfer member which includes a continuous circulating conveying belt and a continuous circulating pressure-exerting belt. The transfer member receives items from the first conveying device between the two belts and discharges them through a discharge region to the moving item carriers. The discharge region of the transfer member pivots along the second transporting direction of the item carriers. The transfer member is aligned with the second conveying device so that items are discharged through the discharge region to the assigned item carriers without movement of the discharge region in a direction which would be out of alignment with the second transporting direction.

In a soldering device comprising at least one stirrup electrode that is secured to a soldering stirrup holder and is heatable with electrical resistance heating and has two soldering webs lying opposite one another or four soldering webs lying opposite one another in pairs, the working surfaces at the underside of the soldering webs should be capable of being placed exactly parallel onto the soldering location that lies, for example, on a printed circuitboard. This is enabled by a flexible suspension of the soldering stirrup holder which provides a pivot compensation center lying centrally in the plane of the working surfaces. Direct transportation of the items (S) into the pockets (Z) of the paddle wheel (FR) is made possible by segmenting each of the paddles (F) by a plurality of gaps arranged one behind the other in the axial direction, and by interleaving guided segments of the first conveying device (FE1) into the paddle wheel (FR) in the region of the gaps. The transfer of the items (S) to the pockets (Z) can thus be reliably controlled since an ejection operation which is dependent on shape and mass of the items (S) may be eliminated.

Sensitive mechanical and electrical parts, particularly machanical guides and electrical contacts are protected against undesired precipitation of soldering vapors that arise during the soldering process. This protection is achieved by an extraction device for solder vapors which includes an annular extraction opening between the suction pipette and the soldering stirrup holder. The extraction opening discharges into an extraction chamber arranged above the soldering stirrup holder and is in communication with at least one extraction port.

The transport carriages are guided by rollers on two profiles aligned at a vertical distance in relation to each other and extending in the transporting direction. The transport carriages are driven by an endlessly circulating transporting, cable. The conveying mechanism according to the invention forms, with little constructional complexity, a reliable transporting system by which the conveyed items can also be transferred to sorting containers arranged on different levels.
