Abstract: A polyaryl ether ether composition(C) and methods of uses thereof are herein disclosed. The composition comprises a polymer blend [blend (B)] consisting of: —a first polyaryl ether ketone (PAEK-1)and —a second polyaryl ether ketone (PAEK-2), wherein the (PAEK-1) is crystalline and exhibits a melting temperature Tm of 330° C. or higher and the (PAEK-2) is either amorphous or crystalline and exhibits a melting temperature Tm of 315° C. or lower and wherein the (PAEK-1) constitutes more than 0% wt of blend (B). Composition (C) can be used in particular for the manufacture of coated metal surfaces, in particular for the coating of wires or of (part of) electronic devices.

Abstract: Disclosed is a polymer-metal junction including a polymer composition in contact with a metal substrate, where the polymer composition comprises a polymer component including a PEEK-PEDEK copolymer having a PEEK/PEDEK mole ratio ranging from about 60/40 to about 30/70 and a melting point (Tm) greater than 320° C., and where the polymer composition includes less than 10 wt. % of a sulfur-or-carbonyl-containing solvent, based on the total weight of the polymer composition. Also disclosed are methods of making the polymer-metal junction and articles including the polymer-metal junction.

Abstract: Adhesive compositions are described that significantly improve the adhesion of polymer overmold compositions to metal substrates in polymer-metal junctions. The adhesive compositions include one or more poly(aryl ether) polymers, where each of the poly(aryl ether) polymers is, independently, a poly(aryl ether sulfone) polymer or a poly(aryl ether ketone) polymer. The overmold composition includes at least one poly(aryl ether ketone) polymer. Polymer-Metal junctions can be formed by, for example, dip-coating, spin-coating, extruding, or injection molding the adhesive composition and/or the overmold composition onto the metal substrate. Desirable applications settings for the polymer-metal junctions described include, but are not limited to electrical wiring.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a process for preparing a continuous fiber filament based on a) the spreading of the fiber tow, b) the impregnation of the fiber tow in an liquid medium, comprising polymer powder particles of a certain size comprising poly(aryl ether ketone), an aqueous solvent and at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of alkylphenoxy poly(ethyleneoxy) ethanol surfactants, c) the heating of the impregnated fiber above the melting temperature of the polymer and d) a step consisting in calendering the filaments using a die of cylindrical geometry. The present invention also relates to continuous fiber filament obtained from such process and to the use of the filaments for preparing three-dimensional objects.
