Abstract: A DC-DC converter includes an inverter converting a DC supply voltage to a time varying signal. A transformer has a primary winding coupled to the inverter through an LC-tank circuit. A diode structure includes a first diode pair coupled in series between a high-voltage bus and a negative output, and a second diode pair coupled in series between the high-voltage bus and the negative output. The transformer has a secondary winding with a first terminal coupled to a tap between the first diode pair and a second terminal coupled to a tap between the second diode pair. A high-voltage bus transistor selectively couples the high-voltage bus to a positive output in response to a high-voltage bus gate drive signal. A low-voltage bus transistor selectively couples a low-voltage bus at a center tap of the secondary winding to the positive output in response to a low-voltage bus gate drive signal.

Abstract: A circuit includes a voltage converter converting a source voltage to a supply voltage at a first node as a function of a feedback voltage at a feedback node. A first output path is coupled between the first node and a second node. Feedback circuitry compares the voltage at the second node to first and second overvoltages, and selectively couples the second node to the feedback node based thereupon. Impedance circuitry is coupled between the first node and a third node. A light emitting diode (LED) chain is coupled to the third node, and is selectively turned on and off as a function of the selective coupling of the second node to the feedback node by the feedback circuitry.

Abstract: One embodiment of a power management system includes a reservoir configured to collect energy. The system also includes a voltage regulator coupled to the reservoir via an input terminal and configured to convert the energy to an output voltage via an output terminal when enabled. A threshold detector is coupled to the reservoir and is configured to sense the energy and enable the voltage regulator when the energy exceeds a threshold. The system further includes a feedback circuit coupled between the output terminal and the threshold detector, and configured to feedback the output voltage to the threshold detector to compensate for a voltage drop across the threshold detector due to an output current drawn by the load.

Abstract: A drive transistor is connected to a resonant load in a low-side drive configuration. The voltage across the conduction terminals of the drive transistor is sensed and compared to an over-voltage threshold. An over-voltage signal is asserted in response to the comparison. The drive transistor is controlled by a PWM control signal in normal mode. In response to the assertion of the over-voltage signal, the drive transistor is forced to turn on (irrespective of the PWM control signal) to relieve the over-voltage condition. Operation of the circuit may be disabled or forced into soft start mode in response to the assertion of the over-voltage signal. Additionally, the pulse width of the PWM control signal may be reduced in response to the assertion of the over-voltage signal.

Abstract: A tunable voltage regulator has an output generating a variable voltage and an input that receives a trimming signal for controlling the output variable voltage. A current regulating circuit operates to regulate a current flowing through a load in response to the variable voltage. A control circuit senses the variable voltage and a drop voltage of the current regulating circuit, and determines whether the current regulating circuit has failed to regulate the current flowing through the load because the variable voltage is too low. In response thereto, the control circuit generates the trimming signal to set the variable voltage to a value sufficient for the current regulating circuit to successfully regulate the current flowing through the load.

Abstract: A PFC correction circuit includes first, second, and third phase inputs coupled to three-phase power mains, with a three-phase full-wave rectifying bridge connected to an input node. First, second, and third boost inductors are respectively connected between first, second, and third phase inputs and first, second, and third taps of the three-phase full-wave rectifying bridge. A boost switch is connected between the input node and ground, and a boost diode is connected between the input node and an output node. A single-phase power factor controller generates a PWM signal from the single-phase input signal. A gate driver generates a gate drive signal from the PWM signal.
