    Abstract: A cemented carbide consists of: a first phase consisting of a plurality of tungsten carbide grains; and a second phase including cobalt, an average value of equivalent circle diameters of the tungsten carbide grains is 0.5 μm to 1.2 μm, on number basis, the tungsten carbide grains include less than or equal to 13% of first tungsten carbide grains each having an equivalent circle diameter of less than or equal to 0.3 μm, on number basis, the tungsten carbide grains include less than or equal to 12% of second tungsten carbide grains each having an equivalent circle diameter of more than 1.3 μm, in a histogram indicating a distribution of the equivalent circle diameters of the tungsten carbide grains. Fmax/Fmin is less than or equal to 7.0, Fmax/Fmin being a ratio of a maximum frequency Fmax to a minimum frequency Fmin.

    Abstract: A surface-coated cutting tool includes a substrate and a coating film. The coating film includes an alternate layer. The alternate layer includes a first layer having a first composition and a second layer having a second composition. The alternate layer is formed by alternately stacking at least one first layer and at least one second layer. The first layer and the second layer each have a thickness not smaller than 2 nm and not greater than 100 nm. The first composition is expressed as TiaAlbSicN (0.25≤a≤0.45, 0.55≤b≤0.75, 0≤c≤0.1, a+b+c=1). The second composition is expressed as TidAleSifN (0.35≤d≤0.55, 0.45≤e≤0.65, 0≤f≤0.1, d+e+f=1). The first composition and the second composition satisfy a condition of 0.05≤d−a≤0.2 and 0.05≤b−e≤0.2.

The cermet includes a hard phase including compounds containing Ti, at least one metal other than Ti selected from groups 4, 5, and 6 of the periodic table, and at least one element of carbon and nitrogen, a binder phase including, as a main component, an iron group metal, and unavoidable impurities. At least one type of particles selected from alumina particles and zirconia particles with an average particle size of 0.5 μm or more and 5 μm or less is scattered over a surface of a rake face of the substrate, and the concentration of at least one element of aluminum and zirconium in the surface is 0.5 at % or more and 5 at % or less.

    Abstract: A cemented carbide is composed of a first hard phase, a second hard phase, and a binder phase, wherein the first hard phase is composed of tungsten carbide particles and having a particle diameter D10 of 0.30 μm to 0.60 μm, a particle diameter D90 of 0.90 μm to 1.40 μm, the second hard phase contains at least one first compound selected from the group consisting of TiNbC, TiNbN, and TiNbCN, and having an average particle diameter of 0.03 μm to 0.50 μm, a content of the binder phase in the cemented carbide is 8.0 vol % to 16.0 vol %, an average particle diameter of the binder phase is 0.15 μm to 0.45, a particle diameter D95 of the binder phase is 1.5 μm or less, and a degree of dispersion of the binder phase is 0.15 to 0.25.
