    Abstract: A backlight unit includes a light source array including at least one light source which emits light and a circuit board on which the light source is disposed, and a first optical layer disposed on the light source array. The first optical layer includes a first layer which defines at least one concave portion in a bottom of the first layer, where the at least one concave portion is coupled to the light source, a second layer disposed on the first layer, the second layer guiding light incident from the first layer in one direction, a plurality of optical patterns disposed on one surface of the second layer, the plurality of optical patterns selectively emitting light passing through the one surface, and a reflective layer disposed on the bottom of the first layer.

    Abstract: A backlight unit includes a central area and a peripheral area disposed outside the central area, the backlight unit includes a bottom chassis, a plurality of light sources disposed on a surface of the bottom chassis, a reflective layer disposed on the surface of the bottom chassis, where a plurality of light source insertion holes and a plurality of opening patterns are defined through the reflective layer, and a light correction material layer disposed between the bottom chassis and the reflective layer in the peripheral area, where the light source insertion holes expose the light sources, respectively, and the opening patterns are disposed in the peripheral area to expose at least a portion of the light correction material layer in a thickness direction.

    Abstract: A backlight unit including an optical pattern sheet and a liquid crystal display are provided. The backlight unit includes a light guide plate, a light source portion arranged adjacent to a side surface of the light guide plate to emit light, a mold frame having an extension portion that covers an upper portion of the light source portion and a part of an upper portion of the light guide plate, and an optical pattern sheet arranged on a lower portion of the extension portion to shade or diffuse incident light, wherein the optical pattern sheet includes a base film and an optical pattern portion positioned on the base film.

    Abstract: Provided are a composite optical sheet and a liquid crystal display device including the same. The composite optical sheet includes: a first optical functional layer having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface including a reference plane and a pattern of recesses dented from the reference plane; a first support layer disposed on the first surface of the first optical functional layer; a first adhesive layer disposed between the first optical functional layer and the first support layer, wherein the first optical functional layer is coupled with the first adhesive layer by penetrating into the first adhesive layer at least partially; a second optical functional layer disposed on the first support layer and including a pattern of prisms extended in a first direction; a polarizing layer disposed on the second optical functional layer; and a second adhesive layer disposed between the second optical functional layer and the polarizing layer, wherein the second optical functional layer is coupled with the second adhesive layer by penetrating into the second adhesive layer at least partially.
