    Abstract: A method and transmit/receive apparatus in a wireless communication system supporting ranging capability are provided. The method and the transmit/receive apparatus comprises: identifying ranging apparatuses; identifying a ranging control message (RCM) including a ranging device management information element (RDM IE) and roles of the ranging apparatuses, the RDM IE including a content field, wherein the ranging apparatuses include the transmit apparatus and at least one receive apparatus; and transmitting, to the ranging apparatuses over a broadcast channel, the RCM including the RDM IE in a ranging round (RR).

    Abstract: A method of a transmit apparatus in a wireless communication system supporting ranging capability is provided. The method comprises: determining at least one receive apparatus of a group of receive apparatuses participating in a ranging operation; identifying a scrambled timestamp sequence (STS) physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) format 3 (SP3) ranging request reports information element (SRRR IE) for the at least one receive apparatus of the group of receive apparatuses; and transmitting, to the at least one receive apparatus of the group of receive apparatuses participating in the ranging operation, a ranging control message (RCM) including the SRRR IE using an in-band mechanism or an out-of-band mechanism, wherein the RCM including the SRRR IE is transmitted in a time-scheduled ranging operation.

The method and apparatus comprises: identifying a MAC sublayer management entity-receive-enable request (MLME-RX-ENABLE.request) primitive including a list of ranging scheduling time unit (RSTU) counter (RxOnTime) values and a number of RSTUs (RxOnDuration), wherein the MLME-RX-ENABLE.request primitive is sent to a MAC layer from a higher layer; in response to identifying the MLME-RX-ENABLE.request primitive, identifying a value of a MAC RSTU_COUNTER; determining whether the value of the MAC RSTU_COUNTER is set to an RxOnTime value included in the list of the RxOnTime values of the MLME-RX-ENABLE.request primitive; increasing the value of the MAC RSTU_COUNTER; determining whether a frame is received from another network entity based on the value of the MAC RSTU_COUNTER; and in response to determining that the frame is received, generating a MAC common part sublayer indication (MCPS-DATA.indication) primitive.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus of a first network entity in a wireless communication system supporting ranging capability is provided. The method comprises: identifying, in a ranging block, one or more ranging rounds to transmit a ranging control message (RCM) and ranging ancillary data; generating the RCM including an advanced ranging control information element (ARC IE) that includes a ranging method field, wherein the ranging method field includes a value that indicates whether a ranging round following the RCM is used for ranging ancillary information exchange; transmitting, to a second network entity, the ranging ancillary data in the ranging round following the RCM when the value included in the ranging method field corresponds to ranging ancillary information exchange; and receiving, from the second network entity, an acknowledgement (ACK) corresponding to the ranging ancillary data.
