摘要: Disclosed is a novel polymeric composite including a nanoparticle filler and method for the production thereof. More particularly, the present invention provides a novel halloysite nanoparticle filler which has the generally cylindrical or tubular (e.g. rolled scroll-like shape), in which the mean outer diameter of the filler particle is typically less than about 500 nm. The filler is effectively employed in a polymer composite in which the advantages of the tubular nanoparticle filler are provided (e.g., reinforcement, flame retardant, chemical agent elution, etc.) with improved or equivalent mechanical performance of the composite (e.g., strength and ductility).

摘要: A vehicle decklid displacement mechanism includes a linkage for leveraging displacement of the lid with respect to a vehicle body, an extension strut having spring means biasing the ends of the strut away from each other and a motorized crank. The crank is driven by the motor for pivotal engagement with the extendable strut so that the combined leverage of the linkage and the biasing of the strut geometrically urge the decklid to an open position. A position of the crank is adjusted by the motor to retract the decklid from its fully open position, at which point the weight of the lid overcomes the leverage of the linkage and the biasing of the extendable strut to displace the decklid toward its open position.

摘要: Mill annealed commercial insulated copper wire 20 used to fabricate high Residual Resistivity Ratio (RRR) windings 12 is unwound from a supply spool 22 and wound onto an annealing spool 24, annealed on the annealing spool 24, and unwound from the annealing spool 24 and wound onto an actuator bobbin 18. The annealing spool 24 is selected to have the same outside diameter as the actuator bobbin 18. The temperature of a single layer of wire 32 on the annealing spool 24 is raised in an incremental fashion to an annealing temperature in a vacuum furnace. The annealing spool 24 is held at the annealing temperature for a period of time at least equal to the annealing time required for the single layer of wire 32 and not longer than the survival time of an insulative coating on the single layer of wire 32. After annealing, the annealing spool 24 is cooled naturally to room temperature partially under vacuum and partially in an inert gas atmosphere. A high RRR wire 34 resulting from annealing is unwound from the annealing spool 24 and wound onto the actuator bobbin 18. During unwinding and winding tension and bend radius is controlled. Also, a heat conductive coating for removing heat from the winding is simultaneously applied to the annealed insulated copper wire during the winding and unwinding process.

Such a unit is well adapted for installation within a peripheral channel of a vehicle body opening and to prop the closure in its open position. The present invention also provides a method for reducing packaging footprint of a vehicle closure hinge by integrating the 6 bar linkage with the laterally coiled strand, and selecting a strand shaping to reduce radial dimension of the coil and the coil cross-section while maximizing the radial dimension of material in the strand.
