    摘要: A thermoplastic composition comprises a polycarbonate having repeating structural carbonate units of the formula (1): wherein at least 60 percent of the total number of R1 groups contain aromatic organic groups and the balance thereof are aliphatic, alicyclic, or aromatic groups; and wherein the polycarbonate comprises terminal groups derived from reaction with a cyanophenol of the formula wherein Y is a halogen, C1-3 alkyl group, C1-3 alkoxy group, C7-12 arylalkyl, C7-12 alkylaryl, or nitro group, y is 0 to 4, and c is 1 to 5, provided that y+c is 1 to 5; optionally a branching agent; an impact modifier; and a flame retardant. The compositions are useful in the manufacture of a wide variety of parts, particularly those having a thin wall.

    摘要: A laminate contains a first layer and a second layer. The first layer contains a first composition that contains polycarbonate, polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer, impact modifier and polyetherimide, wherein the polycarbonate constitutes at least about 50% by weight of the composition and a 3.2 millimeter thick, 7.6 centimeter square sample of the first composition produces a smoke density (Ds) of less than 275 after a 4-minute burn, measured according to ASTM E 662-03. The first composition may contain about 50 wt. % to about 97 wt. % polycarbonate, about 0.5 wt. % to about 25 wt. % polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer, about 0.5 wt. % to about 20 wt. % impact modifier, and about 2 wt.% to about 15 wt. % polyetherimide, by weight. An article may contain a sheet or film made from such a composition. A laminate or article may be made to include a first layer or sheet that includes such a composition.

    摘要: A flame retardant thermoplastic composition comprising in combination a polycarbonate homopolymer or copolymer comprising repeat carbonate units having the following structure: wherein R1 and R2 are independently at each occurrence a C1-C4 alkyl, n and p are each an integer having a value of 1 to 4, and T is selected from the group consisting of C5-C10 cycloalkanes attached to the aryl groups at one or two carbons, C1-C5 alkyl groups, C6-C13 aryl groups, and C7-C12 aryl alkyl groups; an impact modifier, wherein the impact modifier comprises wherein the impact modifier comprises a rubber modified thermoplastic resin comprising a discontinuous elastomeric phase dispersed in a rigid thermoplastic phase, and wherein the impact modifier has a specific mean particle size and Q value; and a flame retardant. The compositions have excellent scratch resistance as well as an improved balance of physical properties such as impact strength and spiral flow, while at the same time maintaining their good flame performance.
